So much better than a canopy!
I’m in love with this truck tent for my boondocks set up. I usually put up a 10’x10’ easy up canopy to provide shade when camping and fishing. The weight and hassle of the solo set up for the canopy had me looking for an alternative. I attach the retention straps around the rear leaf springs to keep them from rub and fray by installing them thru my rims. I also bought a single pole that is a foot taller than the poles it came with. I only use it in case of rain, by putting it in the center grommet and moving the shorter poles out to the sides. This allows the rain to roll off better and not pool on top. It your not expecting to have it out in the rain the two poles it comes with is are plenty effective and give you more room to move under it. Light weight and packs into a small bag I’d say Is 1/3 to 1/4 smaller than the pop up canopy. If you “think” you need this for your setup you won’t be disappointed.

Lots of weather protection for the price. Reasonable quality!
This was set up on a transit connect 2014. It is a bit confusing to set up but only because this it is a product designed for a variaty of vehicles - the set uo is not set in stone. We set it up at home for that same reason - to practice before going camping. Now that we did it once it should be a breeze to do it again. I used an old bungee cord that had hooks on the ends. Cut the bungee in half and used it to attach to my rims. This way i didnt need to thread that plastic buckle through the rims which seemed difficult. You can set it up with two poles or one in the center. For the price this seemed to provide more cover and versatility than one of those pull out roofs/awnings that you can have attached to the side of your car. Even tho those give your car a cool overlander look, I still have to use my van for work. (The biggest game changer was adapting my roof rack to fit this cargo box i had. Now all I carry is on top and I have plenty of modest room to sleep). The tent/shade/roof folds nicely into a carry bag wich has plenty of space even if you dont fold it perfectly. The only thing i didnt like (but will modify) would be painting the steaks on some bright color as the green that came with keept getting lost in the grass. Will paint the top ends fluorescent. If you are looking for this type of set up, you have found it in this brand. I hope this review helps. Good luck.

Just what I needed.
Giving it 4 stars because I have not camped under it yet. Love the design of this awning. Tried a regular nylon tarp—too much fabric, too much hassle. Built out my pickup truck so I could camp in it and bought this to give me some dry-ish air and shade. Hooked it up to the tow hooks on the front of my 2006 Tundra with soft flat straps to save the paint. The nylon click-buckle Geertop system is the bomb. I couldn’t use it on tires or doors, but it sure made creating a harness I could use and deploy and take down quickly really easy. I got 2 poles in the box, but it needs three to make sure the rain flows off properly. Otherwise, it seems well thought out with good reinforcement in critical places and provision for plenty of stakes. Love the night bright, adjustable, color coded guy lines. The stakes are pretty worthless. Get some good ones (8 or 10 inch nails are good). Very manageable size folded and rolled. Fits my small space nicely. Gives me at least 10 ft of awning beyond the topper rear door when it’s raised up. Hard to describe. See pics. I’ll update when I use it in September for a ten day camping run through a lot of different country.

This awning is legit!
Took this out to what we thought was an evening of drizzle but turned out to be a stormy night by the lake. I couldn't tell you how strong the winds were but it was enough to throw out double burner-Coleman with a 16oz propane tank attached to the ground. All the time we were inside our camper, I gave in to the thought that the awning would have some sort of damage after that whole night of rain and wind. Surprisingly it held up. No tear, ties didn't break. And yes, the awning was inside-out because it was already dark and raining when we got to the lake. :)

Huge awning, super durable—exactly what I hoped for!
Massive coverage — the size is no joke: ~196×228/103 inches. Big enough to shade the tailgate area and still have room to chill under without crowding. Solid materials — the 210T polyester feels sturdy, it’s both water-resistant and tear-resistant. Doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy at all. Flexible setup — love that there are multiple mounting options (single pole, dual pole, A-frame, etc.). Adaptable to weather, space, and how many people are around. Amazon Quick install & adjust — the telescoping poles are a nice touch (72-83″), and the buckle attachments make it less of a wrestling match getting it on. Minor thoughts: When it’s windy, you’ll want to anchor it well. Big surface = more wind load. For heavy downpours, might need to angle it correctly so water runs off instead of pooling. Final verdict: If you’re into camping, road trips, tailgates, or just want extra shade behind your SUV, this awning gives you big value. Durable, well sized, and built to handle real use. Absolutely recommend.

Too Time Consuming
Too difficult to set up. I wanted something that was quickly set up for umpiring softball.

Sturdy and spacious
Glad I bought this, had rain on our camping trip and this gave us plenty of room. Center sagged pretty bad with the rain though so had to work through a couple of configurations to get it to drain properly.
