I was missing the first film and the sixth one (I didn't get it because I was disappointed from it). I have the other films on DVD and the last one (part 2) on Blu-ray. This set is exactly what I wanted. It has all the films and is really cheap. I was reading the other comments of people saying there are lots of ads and the films are grainy. In my case is exactly the other way. The films are perfectly presented in HD and all of the films except the last one (only two ads) don't feature any ads. The discs are situated in standard blu-ray boxes with good quality. They don't feel cheap. The discs are like from the individual releases. On the discs of the first five movies it says on them "FOR RENTAL OR RESALE". This is not a problem at all for me because as I said the quality is HD and there are no ads. Though this releases don't feature a lot of language options or subtitle I'm perfectly fine with this. When you put the discs in the player the films start momentarily but if you call the menu you'll see that there is a lot of bonus material included there. The other three films are exactly as the individual blu-ray releases (featuring bonus discs for each) with lots of language and subtitle options. I compared my individual copy of DH part 2 with the one from the set and they are identical as size (GBs of the discs) and quality. There is a minor differences in the menus and the set's one features one ad more but this is normal because my release is intended for my region (I'm from Bulgaria). I'm really happy with the set and I recommend it to every fan that wants to complete their collection. I do believe it will also be a good present for every HP fan that is still missing some of the films or just wants to experience them in HD. Review: An excellent alternative to the North American box set. - I feel like I should preface this review with a disclaimer: I am reviewing only the Blu-Ray version of this collection, which is Region-Free and "should" work on any North American Blu-Ray player. Many of the negative reviews I've seen are from buyers who bought the DVD version expecting it to also be region-free, which it is not. (Standard DVDs in general, particularly from major studios, are almost always going to be region-locked. So if you buy a DVD from desertcart UK, you should expect it to be Region 2 PAL.) For the record, I have a North American 120GB PS3 Slim, and all of the discs, movies and special features alike, played flawlessly. Like many other reviewers, two things in particular attracted me to this collection over its North American counterpart. First of all, it's cheaper. The price of the N.A. set has come down in recent months, but this one is still less expensive as of this writing. Better still, there is more content in the UK version. For those of you who don't know, this set is basically a compilation of the individual releases of each film. While the first five films were released as single discs, the last three were 2-disc sets (with, as you might expect, the movie on the first disc and the special features on the second). The N.A. version omits the special features discs for the last three films, but they are included here. Now, obviously, this collection is not as comprehensive as the Ultimate Editions or the Wizard's Collection. There are no extended cuts or 3D versions here, and since the early films were limited to single discs, the extras are somewhat lacking. But for the more casual Harry Potter fan like myself, you're getting all you probably need for under $50, based on current pricing and exchange rates. I have no complaints about the video quality of these discs. I'm sure the early films would've benefited from having separate discs for the special features thereby allowing for a higher bit-rate for the movies themselves, but they look fine. The later films, having more room to breathe as well as simply being newer, look fantastic. I have yet to experience the lossless audio options as I have an older A/V receiver, but the lossy Dolby Digital and DTS tracks sound great for what they are. I will say that the packaging could have been better. The set comes in a cardboard slipcase housing four Blu-Ray cases containing two movies each. This is fine, but the hinges on the disc trays are a bit flimsy and the fourth case, which houses the two Deathly Hallows movies, is unnecessarily thick with a lot of empty space for the discs to be jostled around and become dislodged during shipping. Fortunately, this didn't happen to me, but I'm sure it easily could have. That minor complaint aside, I couldn't be happier with this purchase and would recommend this collection to anyone who wants the Harry Potter movies but can't justify the expense of the Ultimate Editions or the Wizard's Collection.

An excellent alternative to the North American box set.

Excellent deal!
This is an excellent set. All the movies in high quality blu-ray. The sound and video quality are excellent. For those in the US, just an fyi, this set is the 'rest of the world' version, not the dumbed-down-english version sold in the US. There are scenes here that you won't see in the US version and also, the characters use language and phrases that were modified in the US version. I think that's kind of cool because you get to see the movies the way Rowling envisioned it. This set is region free. So, there really isn't an excuse to get it in the US amazon store (if you're in the US). It was much cheaper and arrived very fast (relatively speaking). It took about 2 weeks to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. Lots of extras and special features. The interviews with Rowling are especially great to see. There's one in particular of Rowling's year of writing the final book that's especially good. She talks about her struggles to get to where she is and also how she feels about her current success. We get to see the places she grew up in and her various influences. Highly recommended. Good packaging. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this was not some cheap cardboard packaging. All the movies were in hard plastic cases that protect them very well. The box that all the cases come in is good enough to keep them all together and in good shape.

Better than the US version!
So I recently purchased this set and I must say, it was worth every penny! Just price alone was great, in total it rang up to a little less than $34 US. Compare that to the $80 it's going for on the US site and you've got a great price. I do prefer this box art as compared to the US version and the fact that it's region free is a major plus. Only a few on my end though. The blu-ray boxes on years 1-6, thin normal sized blu-ray cases with two of the movies in each, felt a little cheap. All 3 cases would take a tiny bit of maneuvering to get them to clip shut. The last case for year 7 was double the size of hte other cases and closed perfectly. Another complaint is that the movie plays automatically. I'm used to hitting a selection menu that lets you chose where you want to head to before the movie starts rolling. It's easy to miss the special features on years 1-6 if you don't hit the option to go to the menu on your player. Year 7 has a separate special features disc for both parts, but I haven't gotten to those yet so I couldn't say how those two goes. Little complaints, but they don't take away much of anything for this set. I'm still completely pleased with my purchase.

Great Movies and fantastic value for money!
I have read a number of reviews for this product and feel the way they have rated this product is unfair and the focus of them is a little off. A review of a movie/movie boxset should inform people of the quality of the movies eg. picture quality, sound quality, what you receive for your money and whether the movies are any good or not. A dvd/blu-ray should not be given a 1star or 2star review based on the quality of the packaging! This review will focus on the actual product (the movies that I purchased) and hopefully give people a bit of an insight into what they are buying. I'm not a massive, die hard Harry Potter fan but had seen some of the movies, enjoyed them and was thoroughly entertained by the stories. So when I found this boxset on Amazon and saw the price I couldn't resist. It is a fabulous collection of films and for £32.30 for the complete collection on blu-ray I don't see how anyone could complain. If you've lived under a rock for the past 10 years and haven't seen any of these films I would recommend them to everyone. Children will enjoy the wizardry and fantasy elements while the adults will enjoy the intertwining subtle side stories involving the background characters. I had never read the books and felt that unlike many other book-film titles I was still able to grasp everything that was going on. The stories are engaging, entertaining and it is incredibly easy to start with The Philosophers Stone and work your way through the entire collection without losing interest. The series does become a little bit darker when it comes to The Prisoner of Azkaban and through years 4 - 7, so parents may want to watch these along with their kids as there are a few moments which may frighten younger viewers. All 8 films are excellent quality, the sound is brilliant (previous blu-rays i've bought the volume has been too low in parts and then when you turn it up it suddenly becomes unbearably loud) and for the real Harry Potter fans the collection of special features will give you many hours of extra viewing. I hope people find this review helpful and do not decide whether or not to buy this product based on people's opinions of the products packaging!

Magical?
A reference standard box set, region free is the key.

outstanding value, and the films are good too!
I'm a huge fan of the books, and while I like the films, there is too much stripped out to make them as good as the books - I understand why, but it distills the world of Harry Potter for me somewhat. Saying that though, these films are still great fun! It's good to watch them close together and see the cast growing older and becoming better actors. I won't comment on the content of the film as there are a lot of reviews, but my favorites are the first and last two - very different films in the same universe. The extras alone are almost worth the price paid - some of this content is unique to the Blu Ray and worth watching to see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff (paranoia rules looking for missing wands at the end of shooting!) All eight films come tightly packed and double cased or more, and they look good and played perfectly on a PS3. Fab sound and picture in full HD for a very good price! Highly recommended

Bargain at £20! Great Buy Amazon!
I was looking to purchase this box set on Blu Ray and was astounded to find this on Amazon for just over £20. Interestingly I had checked in the morning and the price was £28, three hours later it was £20, then an hour later £28?? Thankfully I ordered when I did. The box set is superb. Blu ray is far more superior than DVD and certainly worth paying more for. You do though have to make sure your TV and player is compatible to get the best quality. You have all eight films, along with a host of extras. The picture and sound quality is superb. Obviously not the same as being in the cinema, but never he less, fab. Great entertainment for all the family albeit not suitable for the very young ones - could lead to nightmares! I think most people know of the story so I will not go in to the detail here. Even at £28, this is a great buy and highly recommended. Would make an excellent Christmas present.
