I commute daily by scooter down Market Street in San Francisco.
I recently upgraded to the Hiboy VE1 Pro a month ago. I will share my thoughts on the product and how it compares to my old scooter. Maybe it will help you make a buying decision. This scooter was a HUGE upgrade for me. It is better in every way than my old one. I love riding it. I really only have 1 complaint about it which I will address later. Here are the features that I love: - Large 16" wheels ride very smooth and are MUCH safer than my old 8" wheels. This scooter takes bumps with ease, whereas every bump felt dangerous on the old scooter. - Pneumatic tires absorb small bumps and soften large bumps. My old scooter had solid tires which had a very rough ride. - The footbed is wide so you can ride with your feet next to each other. Do not underestimate how important this is! Spending at least 30 minutes per day on a scooter, it is important to ride in this feet parallel stance. I found that I developed hip pain after riding my old scooter with a right-side-back asymmetrical stance for several weeks. The parallel stance is the best stance you can ride in, and this scooter is specifically designed to be ridden that way. Switching to the feet-together parallel stance got the pain to go away, and allows me to absorb bumps with the leg muscles much easier. - The disk brakes are very responsive and maximize stopping power. This is important for safe riding in the city. The old scooter could not stop nearly as fast. Stopping power is necessary for a safe ride. - The 24 mph speed allows me to match the speed of traffic on Market Street. 24 mph feels quite fast. My old scooter topped out at 19mph, and the difference is more noticeable than I expected. I don't think I would want to go much faster as it would start to feel dangerous. - The dashboard is quite nice and easy to read. - The 3 "gears" are actually really helpful. I shift into gear 1 when lots of pedestrians are around. I use gear 2 when riding with friends who are on bikes. Gear 3 allows me to dust everyone except cars and exceptionally fast scooters. - The scooter's headlight is quite powerful and visible. The brake light as well. It also has wheel reflectors for side to side visibility. I like to use a bike light on my backpack as well, but I feel comfortable riding in the dark even without it. - The bell is powerful and loud. Much better than my last scooter's bell, and much louder. -I have even been able to ride this scooter down a staircase, like a bike. I don't recommend doing it, but it has the capability. So what is my 1 complaint? The scooter is a tight fit in my trunk. My old scooter was smaller and fit easily. This scooter wedges in. It is not a problem for me, but if you plan on transporting the scooter in the back of your car then you will want to verify that it can fit in the trunk before buying it. I should mention: the assembly was fine if you're good at building things, or experienced with bikes. If not, you might want to get the support of someone who is. I have to say: I think Hiboy really knocked it out of the park with the VE1 Pro. If you value QUALITY in the products you buy, then this is a solid purchase. The scooter punches above its weight class in terms of price. I think it would be hard to find a higher quality scooter at this price point. This scooter was about double the cost of my last scooter, and is worth every penny in terms of the quality. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Solid frame and great adult commuter
I got this scooter to do my 7ish mile commute to work. Like a lot of the reviews say, it is easy to put together. The build quality is quite high overall, however, I did have some of the same issues others had with handlebar screws not log enough and stripped but I had some extra in my shop that fixed the issue. Plus, the brakes took a lot of tweaking to make it so they did not rub. The front brake still does not seed all the way down to get a full grip on the disk, but it works well enough. Especially, since I mainly use the back brake. The brakes seem to work well enough for me but besides just practice I haven't had a real slam on the brakes moment yet. This scooter is big! That's okay but it may be a challenge on narrow streets with crowds and tight turns. The half a second delay on throttle is probably there to keep the scooter from running away as you kick off and get feet on board. But I wish is was more like a quarter second delay. This thing is not water proof! The top standing deck plate is secured with four screws but it does not sit tightly onto the frame, so water can splash into tue battery and controller area. Holes on bottom are there to let that water drain. I sealed mine up with silicone and duck tape and it has made it more water resistant, but I'm sure they would not recommend this at Hiboy. I live in Florida so not much hills to deal with but the occasional hill is a struggle for this machine but for me it is not a big deal. I'm 175lbs and tested it on our rails to trails and kept it in 2nd at about 15mph and it got 25 miles before it cut out. That's pretty good I think but not the 31 mph under perfect conditions estimate. I wish there was an after market deck that had a built in seat over the back wheel. Could look really slick and would be nice to have a place to sit. Overall, great machine due to sold frame and big tires I have a blast on my daily commute. I was not paid for this writeup it is my opinion. Thanks.

Great scooter and excellent company!!!
I bought this scooter for my two high school girls to use to go back and forth to high school. It was sooo easy to get together and I took it around a bunch of times myself - was a blast !!! I almost didn't want to give it to them. I even had the local teenagers on the electric bikes giving me a thumbs up as I was having fun cruising around the neighborhood. The girls removed the seat because they said it was uncool and after they tried they loved it too. Between them they are 235 lbs and scooter has no problem with either or both of them as board deck is plenty big. The big tires make it stable as well. Unfortunately they started fighting over the scooter so we decided to give it to the older one and get the younger one later. Well the older one injured her knee in wrestling and couldn't use it for 6 weeks. During that time they put it in the garage - she of course now that the scooter was hers refused to let the younger one use it and typically as teenager despite me telling her to make sure it was stored charged - left it uncharged for almost seven weeks in the cold. The manual states clearly to leave it charged and charge it up monthly so it was basically our fault the battery died. I contacted the company and they had a very organized professional service center. I left a message and within 24 hours they called and emailed. I explained we left it uncharged and even though it states in manual the warranty doesn't cover the situation for replacement under this situation - they said no problem and mailed out another battery free of charge which arrived in less than a week. It was super easy to change the battery and now it works like new ! Awesome scooter and awesome company. Thanks so much we will be ordering another one!
