Fantastic fun learning!
This is a really cool and fun educational toy/game. The whole toy comes very compactly in its own carrying case. You open it out and immediately see the cards on the left side which are separated in to 3 categories which get progressively more difficult as the child learns. The idea being that you find the tiles which spell out what the picture is. The word is written underneath each picture so the child can copy. Each marked space for a tile has a number of holes punched out in different sequences that correspond to a letter of the alphabet. The tiles obviously also have the same number of pegs on the reverse which fit in to the correct marked space. If the child tries to place the wrong tile, it won't fit properly meaning the child can easily tell that it's incorrect. The child chooses a card to complete and turns the page to place it ready to start the game. This is the only thing that confused me a little - the tiles on the top row are 'a', 'e', 'I', and the second row 'o' - but then the 'u' is in alphabetical order. At first glance you think that the vowels are all at the top - clever, I thought, but then I discovered that they aren't. I was thinking no matter, you can just move the 'u' next to the 'o' - but then the colours are out. I guess it doesn't really matter, but it would have been a good opportunity to teach vowels and consonants. As it is, I think you mustn't think too much about the sequence of letters and leave vowels and consonants for another day! This is a really good educational toy, but it could have been slightly better.
