Silence! Necessary Building Material for a Quiet Home Office or Other Room in need of Soundproofing
What is Mass Load Vinyl?! I had never heard of it before. But after sharing a home office wall with my wife, and our mics picking up eachothers voice between the walls - I knew we needed to do something. I researched soundproofing solutions and came across a great article on this product. I recently built two new rooms in my house to be used for Home Offices. Soundproofing was a must. My Walls: Offset 2x4s between rooms, filled with rockwool insulation, plastic visqueen, Mass Load Vinyl on one side of that wall, then 5/8in sheetrock on both sides. The Result: I can't hear ANYTHING! I also put rockwool insulation in the floor and a floor version of this product on top of the subfloor before putting down the wood flooring. This is WORTH the cost. I highly recommend. the contractors and drywallers I talked to had never heard of this. Do your research and include this material in your rooms where soundproofing is necessary - you won't regret it. TV on the downstairs home theatre? I wouldn't know. son playing drums in his bedroom? again, if I didn't come out of my office, I'd have no idea. anyone overhearing my phone calls? not happening. Do it right and hang this product between the wall studs and the sheetrock. I highly recommend.

It’s heavy!
It’s heavy. I mean two people need to carry it upstairs heavy. But it works fine. I’m a voice over artist and needed it for my studio. Works well.

Good material with no odor and cut properly. No shipping issues.
Not much to say, it is odor free, heavy like it should be, and the material was clean and cut well. No shipping problems or damage. As all MLV, super easy to cut and work with. This particular blend according to datasheet has pretty good absorption across a wide frequency range of sound. I used mine to put barrier in all four car doors and hatch, and then half the floor area of the car. Noise was noticeably reduced. While this isn't an insulator, every car I have treated the doors in seems to keep temperatures better in cold or hot, possibly due to a very slight insulation value, and due to the later of unbroken surface with few holes. This brand is not the cheapest price out there for a good product that you know will not stink, etc. but with free shipping on Amazon it works to be the same or slightly better than the nearest alternative I know of.

Effective but Heavy
I recently use 1 pound mass loaded vinyl for soundproofing my living room and it is fantastic. It’s significantly cut down noise and it was easy to cut and fit, but we had a hard time putting it up because of the weight. We installed it along with wood panels since my TV wall in the living room is against my bedroom wall, and it made a huge difference in reducing the noise. The quality is excellent, and it feels durable and long lasting. While it might be a bit pricey, the noise reduction benefits, made it worth it. I highly recommended for anyone needing to reduce the noise

sound blocking
The product came quickly and is as advertised as far as size and quality, but was a little disappointed as far as sound blocking. I used it around a vinyl fence enclosure around a standby generator and only helped a little. I have to add another barrier like a sound blanket.

Works better than the foam squares or the felt squares
Very thick and heavy plastic material. Thank goodness I was able to cut with plain shears. It was a little hard for me putting it up because of the weight, but I attached it to the door with nails, and it worked. I also put a little around the door to the wall and made sure to cover the space at the bottom of the door. I tested it out with a loud TV, and it gave above 90% noise cancellation, and that is better than I can ask for. I would use it again by borrowing a man's muscles to help out. Very good product. It works way better than those felt squares and the so-say noise cancellation foam squares.

How sound works
Im just leaving a review because i saw ones about how they bought this to make the noise of there neighbor quieter but thats not how audio or sound works when your are using this. Recording studios use this to stop the noise from in the booth from bouncing off the walls so the microphone doesn’t pick it up so when you use this all is does is stop the noise from bouncing everywhere or the echo of the noise. If you want to not hear your neighbor this will not work unless your neighbor puts this up in their own place not if you put it on your own wall that is not how sound works. But i used this to make a booth in my closet and it works well recommended

Don't buy the hype
This is my first purchase of Trademark MLV, which resulted from a flyer attached in their listing comparing brands. I bought the hype and I re-learned an important lesson . . . don’t buy the hype, as I was very satisfied with my previous MLV purchases from Soundsulate. Although the visual appearance of Trademark is slightly better, the performance is not better. Trademark’s MLV seemed less dense and weighted less, which means I can still hear my neighbor’s TV. I am going back to Soundsulate.

I did the sound deadening for my car in stages. This MLV was the final one going on top of the CLD tiles and foam. I only used this MLV on the floor of the car and as high up onto the firewall as I could reach. I was not able to dismantle the dashboard. Now my car is vastly quieter. I did the sound deadening for my sanity from road noise and also to enhance my audio system which has been upgraded for sound quality running nearly 1000 watts RMS.

Heavy material, dull hey black, but it’s designed to be buried in a wall or covered up, as it has a noticeable smell of fire retardant chemicals which I am very sensitive to. So was unable to use for intended door soundproofing.
