Scare away aggressive dogs on walks
I got these for my mom who always walks her dogs out in her neighborhood after I witnessed two stray dogs attack other couples dogs while they were out walking.Unfortunately my mom already had to use the horn…but most fortunately…it worked! The aggressive dog immediately backed down and she and her dog were able to escape back to safety, and she was able to report the owner. This horn saved her from a potentially horrible incident, absolutely relieved that I decided to get these horns.

Great for the holidays!
We got this to use at the Thanksgiving table. We only had to use it once and they got the hint. It is very loud and left a ringing in everyone's ear, but it was much better than having the entire meal ruined by the two men who can't shut up about their favorite politician.

Not good...
As someone who did quite a bit of biking in "black bear country" I think most of them would have laughed at this. It's just not loud enough. At least the particular one that I just got. (And I need to add that I've never had a problem with bears despite numerous encounters, including with a Mama and cubs. Too many times people do dumb things...) But dogs on the other hand, that's what this kind of thing might good for. Loud air horns always stopped them in their tracks. So for that it might still be useful. And I have to say "might" because I tried it on a neighbor dog who is allowed to roam free and is very large and very aggressive He didn't seem fazed by it. Time to get something louder/more powerful.(Update: Said neighbor dog up towards my place again. Just tried to use the air horn and after a few quick blasts it petered out and died. Good thing my life didn't depend on it.)
