Excellent ratchet grinder. As I am very disabled I was worried that I wouldn't be able to grip the ratchet or have enough power in my arms to push it to and fro but with a little effort I can get plenty of pepper out. We have it set on quite a fine grind and it works magnificently. It is easy to adjust for a coarser grind when needed. The best feature is the little drawer on the side for refilling you just tip the corns straight in without having to disassemble the whole grinder. I also like the transparent section which allows a clear view of the amount and type of peppercorns in the grinder. This is a much cheaper solution than other rheumatoid arthritis friendly grinders and it is a really stylish bit of kit.

The best salt/pepper grinder we've used! My husband cooks and now he wants another one for the salt. It comes out so easily, the lever is easy to operate, it's easy to refill when needed and it hasn't rusted at all.

This is a really good grinder. I have 2, for salt and pepper and have had them for around 6 months. Both work great and have a good capacity. These grinders have an unusual grinding mechanism that is easy to get used to. The grinder can be set to coarse or fine.

The grinder is excellent. I initially purchased one for pepper, and the second for salt. Easy to fill, holds plenty, easy to adjust the mill and the ratchet is easy on my arthritis. No more batteries, yay! One point; I had to return one as it was broken on arrival. The second arrived in one piece, but the packaging was inadequate in both cases. Needs to be sent in a box.

I got it for quickly grinding small quantities of various spices other than black pepper while cooking - not enough for the grinder, but maybe easier or a coarser grind than the pestle & mortar, or just something it wouldn't do well on. It works fairly well for the purpose, dealing with a small quantity well, and being relatively easy to load (nothing to unscrew) with the little flap - this could be larger though. Where I falls down is the ratchet mechanism (though I understand this would be great if you wanted the no-screw flap because of arthritis or similar), and the burrs: there's not much range of grind, and they seem to struggle with anything that isn't bone dry and hard - cloves, long pepper, unshelled cardamom do not work well. All in all I found it fair value and somewhat useful.

My old pepper mill's handle had developed a split and needed to replace it, but needed one that was not the twist type, as I found that difficult with arthritis in my fingers/hands. This ratchet grinder is perfect, it is very easy to fill, easy to adjust how fine or coarse you wish the pepper to be. The most important part is how easy it is to use for grinding the pepper on to food, just move the handle back and forth and out comes the pepper, it feels effortless, and certainly painless. I wish I had one of these ratchet type pepper grinders years ago, I may purchase another to use for rock salt, well worth the money. Updating to add that I purchased another of these to use with rock salt, and it works seamlessly and provides me with finely grounded salt that is again very easy to grind on to my prepared food.

Bought for my grandparents and they love it. High quality and the grinding mechanism is something different!

Easy to use, better twist top on the grinder.

Pros Sturdy and Easy to Use. Grinds the peppercorns evenly. You only have to pull the lever a few times before you get a good amount of pepper. Cons Maybe a little bit pricey. Not very pretty to look at. Sterile and boring. Conclusion I’m happy with its performance I don’t know how it compares to the plastic version but those look more fun to own and use. I bought this version because it looks stronger. Overall a great product especially if it holds up over the years which I really think it will.

Nice grinder. Ratchet mechanism is really better than typical turning one and is easy on your wrists. Coarsness diapason is not very large but Ok for pepper. I'm not sure, that grinder is ceramic or hard plastic, though. Plastic quality could be better for "swiss" brand: there is very visible parting line on handle. It is pure cosmetics, though.
