Lightweight and sharp
So far so good. The 12cm paring knife is a bit lighter than I was expecting but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The blade is good and sharp and made easy work of a grapefruit, peeling some ginger and chopping a few mushrooms. How long the sharpness stays before needing attention remains to be seen. The one thing I wouldn't feel comfortable with is using the blade flat to crush garlic as it seems a little bit too bendy for that. In the big scheme of things that's not much of a problem. The review stating that the handle smelled weird nearly put me off buying this knife but I'm glad it didn't. The handle has no particular smell, good or bad.

I didn't know what I didn't know!
I thought I'd owned some decent kitchen knives - until I bought this one!I wouldn't say my previous knives were 'bargain basement', but from the more affordable end of the price spectrum.I felt I was treating myself with this purchase. I do enjoy cooking and decided to push the boat out (by my standards).Wow!I didn't know knives could be this sharp, this efficient.I'm having to learn better slicing techniques - otherwise I'm going to end up in A&E!This thing slices through and wants to move on to the next before I'm ready for it...But - I shall be treating myself to it's big brother next month.I marked it down slightly because I wish the handle was a little heavier to feel better balanced in the hand - but I'll probably get used to it.

Paring knife (not a carving knife)
This knife is not large enough to be a carving knife.

These came up as highly recommended and I concur.
A year on and these things have only needed a few resharpens.Superb knives. My only gripe is the wood finish between the two I bought is different ones gone quite faded but the other ones really brown still. If I bought them again I might go for the plastic handles..

Great quality knife and expected quality, great for customisation
I bought this knife to customise with a unique form of blade etching, to make a personalised knife to commemorate a birthday. I have etched this model of knife several times now, and all worked freat!

Get one while you can.
Hard to find in the UK now - my usual chef store told me this size is no longer imported. I have Fibrox handled knives this size too but somehow they haven't not the same 'feel' and I keep coming back to this Rosewood one and so does my wife. Great Victorinox value/quality: we have some that are 25+ years old, used daily, and still going strong. Our Wusthof and Henckel are heirloom territory too, but just can't match Victorinox for price.PS the tip is sharpenable to perfection but will bend if you drop it on a stone floor :0(It'll grind out, but 'till I get round to that, this is our must-have replacement.

Average!
Not the sharpest tool in the box....the wood handle is starting to fade (I dry it everytime I use it, so getting it wet is not the problem....not the best value for money, as it's quite expensive!
