The best Spider-man game since Spider-man 2
Every Spider-man game since Spider-man 2 has been compare to and failed against Activision and Treyarch's amazing title. This PS4 exclusive Spider-man, this time handled by the excellent team at Insomniac Games is possibly the first time a game in the series not only matches up but exceeds the benchmark.Instead of following any particular Spider-man movie or media version, Insomniac Games have gone with a generic version which works in their favour, not being bogged down by having to fit in with previous storylines and able to feature a huge swath of characters from villains to old friends and some who have yet to become either. The game sees Peter Parker working for Doctor Octavius after having quit the Bugle but is finding it tough paying rent and saving the city at the same time. His ex-flame Mary Jane Watson is on hand for advice and support, as is Aunt May, now working in a homeless shelter while Norman Osborne runs the city as mayor. After an early run in with Kingpin, serving as a subtle tutorial, leads to his arrest and the breakdown of his gangs, another mysterious group take to the streets, causing problems for Spidey and his friends. Unravelling the mystery of this group will lead to a few big surprises and some even bigger troubles. It's a well written story which will have you intrigued until the end, even setting things up for the possibility of DLC based add-ons without you feeling short changed. The biggest feature this new Spider-man has in its favour is the web swinging. Making your way through the city is a wondrous thing, far more than any Spider-man game before it (yes, that includes Spider-man 2). The developers have managed to create simple but nuanced system for allowing you to swing around, leap and climb with ease. It flows nicely into combat, too, as you come across street gangs and go straight from swinging to webbing up an enemy and hitting them at full force in one seamless action.Combat feels like a more refined version of the Batman Arkham games, a compliment indeed, with web based moves and close quarters combat seamlessly mixed with stealth attacks. The camera does a good job of keeping up for the most part, though occasional hiccups are expected in a game where you're just as likely to spend half your time upside down or clinging to a wall. The wealth of side-quests is so good that it's often distracting from completing the main story as you come across another rucksack, drugs deal or bomb chase while swinging towards your goal. Yes, there are also towers, this time in the form of police radios, but the city is pretty much unlocked from the start and they just provide more detail on the side quests available in each region when you find and fix them. With some great visuals, many of which have already found their way online thanks to the photo mode and Playstation sharing, excellent web-swinging and a great story, there's only one word to describe Spider-man: Amazing.

One of the best games
Most fun game of played in ages.If you think it is a bit pricey, wait for some days like around christmas or black friday as it fluctuates over time.I got it for an fantastic price of £14.95.This game is non stop entertainemnt and fun that can last a long time. The details and graphics is amazing and gameplay and combat is incredible and rarely get bored. There is puzzles you have to solve and guarentees enjoyment.Only downside is it is time consuming and the levels can be a bit difficult for some people and sometimes there is times you might have to watch a walkthrough to complete. You can choose the difficulty which definetly helps and makes it accesible and playable to wide audiences. If you are a fighting game/superhero.This is. must buy

Amazing!
I've taken my time to write a review of Spider-Man. I completed the game a few weeks ago and have been mulling it over since.I had very high hopes for this game during its build up. Like many, I had great memories of the classic Spider-Man games on the older playstation consoles and really wanted this to live up to that. I was so relieved when it did and then some!Played on a PS4 Pro through a 4K HDR TV, the game is stunning to look at. The cityscape is breathtaking, particularly at sunset, and swinging your way through it's buildings, parks and skyscrapers is a joy to behold. Frame rate is solid, no noticeable dips on my playthrough, even with a lot going on on-screen.Gameplay-wise, it does follow most other modern-day 3rd person action games. If you've played Assassin's Creed, any of the Arkham games, Shadow of Mordor or Horizon Zero Dawn - you'll slip straight into it. It combines the elements we've come to expect but does so in an engaging way. At first, I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of icons on my mini map, indicating the vast number of collectibles, side quests and other bits and pieces to investigate. However, I never got the same sense of 'chore' that often happens in those situations. I think this is primarily because the game navigation and combat is SO GOOD. I didn't use the fast travel system in the game to get anywhere; swinging around Manhatten and watching Spider-Man effortlessly navigate anything that gets in his way is fantastic to behold. It's fun in of itself. Coupled with a similar combat style to the Arkham games; one based on counters, fluidity, gadgets and finishing moves - nothing felt like busy-work.Sure some of the random crimes get a little repetitive at times, especially if you're looking to 100% it (it's actually my first platinum trophy and apparently one of the easier games to 100%), but there's enough variance and distraction to keep you going. Each crime has a series of challenges to max your score, for example. All of the collectables add up to allow gadget, gear and suit unlocks - some of which are very cool.I'm in the midst of Red Dead Redemption 2 at the moment but once I'm done roaming the wild west, I'll be straight back to New York, with the DLC packs in hand :D
