Highly Reputable Brand But Formula Contains Maltodextrin
I have been taking an alpha-galactosidase supplement with meals as needed for the past several years to aid in the digestion of foods comprised of complex carbohydrates and non-absorbable fibers. It works as long as you take it as directed, and in a high enough dose for the size of meal you are consuming. Being low on my usual brand, I decided to try this formula made by SOLARAY. The bottle contains 60 single capsule servings, and each capsule contains 300GalU (20mg) of alpha-galactosidase. The capsules are made of vegetable cellulose, and the fillers it contains are cellulose, maltodextrin, and silica. Unfortunately, I did not notice that maltodextrin was an ingredient until after I ordered them. I avoid maltodextrin because research shows it can alter the levels of gut bacteria and lead to IBD and other gut health issues— exactly the kind of thing I'm trying to avoid! While I can't speak to how well SOLARAY's alpha-galactosidase formula works, I can say that, by comparison, Target's formula contains 600GalU per capsule and comes in a bottle of 110 single capsule servings for a little more than half the price of SOLARAY's, and it doesn't contain maltodextrin. One doesn't have to be good at math to quickly figure out that Target's formula offers a substantially better value. However, Target brand and SOLARAY's manufacturing practices are not equal, which some may find makes SOLARAY's formula worth paying more for...SOLARAY is a highly reputable health supplement brand that's been in business since 1973. Their sourcing and manufacturing standards are unparalleled, with one exception— they conduct lab testing for their products in-house instead of using third party labs. Given their certifications and how extensive their products are tested though, I'd be willing to risk the lack of third party testing. From SOLARAY's website:Facilities are 455-2 GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Certified, and they are an official NSF Listed facility.SOLARAY's "lab is also ISO 17025:2017 Certified, which means it meets an internationally recognized high standard set for testing and calibration laboratories. Verification requires a third-party auditor, facility scrutiny, and process analysis.""A certificate of analysis from each supplier is the first step required to guarantee product quality. But we go further: We triple test at our own state-of-the-art, ISO Certified laboratory before any material is released for production. Some of our stringent testing procedures include testing for identity, purity (screening for heavy metals, microbes, bacteria, yeast, molds, herbicides, pesticides, major allergens, etc.), and potency. Then, we conduct finished product testing to be sure we picked, blended, and produced according to our stringent specifications.""No skip lot or repeat lot testing of raw materials is allowed, meaning all raws are tested—we test every batch, every time. Before one of our 700+ supplements reaches store shelves or ships to your home, not only will it have been tested at three different stages in the manufacturing process, it will have undergone up to six different types of quality tests in that time, including microbial testing for unwanted microorganisms and contaminant testing to ensure you’re getting a product free of potentially harmful chemicals and pesticides."Given all of that, if maltodextrin is not a concern to you, then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend trying SOLARAY's alpha-galactosidase formula given their high standards and commitment to rigorous testing to ensure they're producing safe products that contain what they're supposed to, and nothing else.I hope you have found my unbiased review of this product helpful.

Seems to work for me
I suffer from occasional gas that is sometimes really bad, so I like to try these different enzyme products. This one has the one ingredient, and it seems to work for me. I find if I take one capsule just before a meal, it had the best effect. It still depends on different factors, and for me not wolfing my food and gulping water, as I am prone to do, are key, but this supplement seems to help me, especially with certain food involved. I love Solaray products for their quality and their price, and this one delivers as expected.

Effective but has a questionable filler.
This is a review for "SOLARAY Bean Enzyme 300 GalU - Alpha Galactosidase Digestive Enzymes ".Solaray has been around for 50 some years! Their longevity is important to note for the trust that they have earned with the quality of the supplements they make. I love that this is a 1 ingredient enzyme! That means there is more of the Alpha Galactosidase in a capsule so that I get a better result. There is 1 ingredient that is a filler that just doesn't work for me however. The Maltodextrin is a highly processed sugar and my digestive system doesn't seem to tolerate this processed sugar. It's ironic that the Alpha Galactosidase is for gas and bloat and the filler in this supplement can actually cause this anyway.I definitely recommend this supplement but if you have sensitivity to processed sugars then beware.

Your friend if you like veggies too much!
Some people need more fiber in their diets. I am not one of these people.I try to eat a low-glycemic diet, which means everything is pretty high in fiber. I also like brown rice, beans, mushrooms, stir-frying, etc. I'm no saint or food cop, but day in, day out, I try!Recently, after eating too much bean and brown rice chili, I thought I might die from pressure and bloating. My paranoia ran to life-threatening conditions, than it occurred to me it might be my body trying to digest all those beans and all that fiber. Here's your sign! LOLI went looking for help, and since I trust Solaray, I thought I would try these. So, for the last week or so, I've been taking this when I have eaten a lot of beans or fiber, and I believe it's really helping! Hopefully they will help you too!

Works reasonably well, but not perfect
Vine review. Made some minestrone soup with red beans. I usually don't tolerate eating beans, so I normally don't eat them. However, I wanted to give these enzyme capsules a try. After swallowing the capsule which was easy, I ate my soup. Several hours later, I noticed the symptoms were a bit lessened, but I still had a fair amount of gas.Overall, for me these enzyme pills did lessen the overall symptoms, but didn't reduce them entirely or enough to feel comfortable. I'm not certain that taking more capsules would have helped. 3 stars for working in a limited way, 2 stars off for not being more effective.
