Finding Neverland [DVD]

After trawling for some cheap, decent films to download, I cam across this and A United Kingdom.This film, is easy enough to watch but even though it is set in the 40s it has the look and feel of a made for TV film that was filmed in the 80s. It should feel different as it is actually filmed in 2004. I am not sure quite how they managed to pull off a 40s drama and make it look like it was filmed in the 80s but it did detract from my enjoyment. The overall look of the film, is not like HD but slightly grainy and out of focus.The acting is fine and the story line is good. But I didn't find it as good as I had hoped.I do not receive any payment or free goods for writing these reviews. I am just happy to share my views on my purchases with fellow like minded Amazonians in the hope that you may find it helpful.

Great little film, very gentle and slow moving, but it is enjoyable all the same, a real treasure of a movie. I would also like to say that Johnny Depp does a perfect regional Scottish accent in this movie, its not a generic stage Scotsman like Simon Pegg as Scotty in Star Trek, on the contrary, Mr Depp manages to deliver his lines in a totally convincing soft Scottish lilt that evokes a East Coast/Edinburgh accent that J M Barrie most likely had, so as a born and bred Scottish person myself I would say hats off to Johnny Depp for sounding accurate and convincing as the Scottish writer and creator of Peter Pan.

Luvly film. Perhaps one of Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp’s most underrated performances. Kids will luv it. Adults will see the mature themes gently hinted at under the surface. JM Barrie is a big kid in an adult writers body who loves to dream. He and his wife still care for each other but they have drifted apart. Barrie meets friendly widow Sylvie Llewelyn Davies and her 4 young sons in a local park and he becomes obsessed (in a kind way) with the boys and spends all his time playing with them and helping them out. His wife, Sylvia’s mother and the community have their concerns over his obsession; Sylvia’s mother and Barries wife tire of it. But it’s bringing the spark back into his life as much as the boys.

I watched this film years ago and thought it only reasonably good. Then I watched again recently and changed my mind drastically, it is one of the finest films I have seen in a while, Johnny Depp of course plays a wonderful part, as does Kate Winslet. Although the events in the film are largely true, a little artistic license has been taken as to the chronological timing. This does not detract one bit from the wonderful filming of arguably one of our best children's authors, enabling us all to never forget to pander to our own inner child occasionally. Excellent film, well worth watching.

Saw the movie on TV and it's well done, so bought the DVD from Amazon.I like the understated performances, especially from Johnny Depp he reallyis excellent. But of course the film touches on but skirts around the realissues. I will not mention them here, it's not appropriate. But there aremoments of pure magic in this lovely movie, it's worth having and not leastof course because of the wonderful Freddie Highmore as the young JMB

Honestly had no idea what to expect, but have just watched one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life. The whole thing has just left me speechless. It was well written, the acting OMG, best casting and the emotion put into is amazing. Can't find a single fault whatsoever and highly recommend it. Whilst still bringing you back to your childhood, it has so much meaning whilst being so realistic. I really am speechless and have just watched the most beautiful story ever.

Their friendship helps him create Peter Pan, but tragedy is set to follow.Inspired by true events Finding Neverland is a film for all the family. It is boty funny and poignant in equal measureJohnny Depp, complete with Scottish accent, puts in what in my opinion is one of his best performances, while Kate Winslett is outstanding in her support role. Freddie Highmore as Peter is brilliant too.An outstanding and beautiful film.

I am a huge fan of Peter Pan, so this movie is perfect for me. I absolutely love the acting, Freddie Highmore was such a great actor even when he was so small! His performance is so moving and makes me cry every time. Kate Winslet and Johnny Depp are also wonderful, as always. I love how they illustrate J.M. Barrie's vivid imagination. This is one of my all time favorite movies. Would highly recommend, especially if you're looking for a good cry.
