Q: How thick is it in inches?

This is very thin metal. About the same thickness as an index card. It is too thin to really measure the thickness of it. It is approx. 2.5 inches wide and approx. 4 inches long.

This is for protecting the main your works using eraser. Sticking out the line in your works, you want do work with colored pencils and if colered people can easerable. You can use it. Mainly people are using with pencil, because it is easily erased.

Q: What is the purpose of an eraser shield?

It is not made to erase charcoal drawings. It is meant to help erase small parts of graphite/pencil drawings.
