NETGEAR C7000v2 - Compatible with Different ISPs - For the Most Part
I purchased the NETGEAR Model: C7000v2 back in November 2023. I previously had a lower model NETGEAR and I needed to upgrade. My internet service was upgrading and I needed a product that could handle 500 Gbps service. I was with COX and they were the only ISP available in the city I lived in at that time. The COX website said that their service was compatible with this device. The NETGEAR device price was decent...so I went with it.Whether the issue is with NETGEAR or COX, it has yet to be determined. I would have to say, at least once a month, my internet would go out. Looking at the COX app, it said my service was "All Good". Looking at the NETGEAR app, it says "The device is functioning properly." Parties from both sides could not provide me an answer to the issue. WiFi strength was generally around 100-150 Mbps (download). Connecting with an ethernet cable from my laptop to the NETGEAR device provided a better connection obviously. It ranged from 250-490 Mbps download. I worked from home so a reliable and dependable connection was required. I also had multiple devices (2-Alexas, Google Nest, GE washer/dryer, Google TV, Xbox, etc.) connected via WiFi. A little bit of device overload? Sure...I'll give them that.Fast forward...it is now May 2025. I moved to a different city and I am now with Spectrum. Their website said this NETGEAR C7000v2 device is compatible with their service and so I kept it. I signed up for the same speed of 500 Mbps with Spectrum because I am still working remotely. I also have other devices (2-Alexas, Google TV, smart bulbs, laptops, etc.) connected to the WiFi. Connecting with an ethernet cable gives me about 450-500 Mbps (download) and WiFi gives me about 150Mbps download. I have yet to experience any outages (fingers crossed).Side Note: I used the website "Speed Test by Ookla" to see what my internet speeds are.

Fantastic—if you need the upgrade, do it!
I recently realized I needed faster internet speeds for 4k streaming, work, gaming, etc so I upgraded to a faster plan with xfinity. However, I came to the realization that my current modem and router that I’ve had for years could not handle 1300 mbps.I searched for reliable modem routers and this one came up. So I said fine, let’s give it a try. And oh boy, this was an amazing decision. I experienced 9x more download speeds than my previous set up IMMEDIATELY. My ping is games are immaculate and I do not experience buffers with watching streaming services anymore. This was a great decision and I recommend you upgrade immediately to a good cable modem router in this day and age. It will save you a ton of headache!

Good netgear cable modem/wifi router
I did read some bad reviews for this but decided to buy one anyway instead of paying monthly for xfinity owned modem. It turned out great. Setup was a breeze. Reached out to xfinity to confirm gateway connectivity after i sync up this model to xfinity. After spending 30 mins over xfinity chat, they confirmed and i confirmed the modem is working as intended. Been using it for over a month now and no issue so far.For those of have problems syncing up this modem to your cable provider, make sure youregister your modem with them first, check to make sure it is synced up to their gateway properly. Call them to confirm, sometimes the provider might need to re-register your modem and resync it to their network in order for your modem to work properly.Overall, its working as intended. Hoping this modem will last for 2+ yrs or better :)Will update at a later time

Buyer Beware- concerning business practice experience
I purchased this product on April 27, 2025. In full transparency the product worked very well up until about three weeks in. For an entire day, my household had trouble accessing the Internet so as part of my troubleshooting process, I first called the Netgear customer service line. After putting me on hold for a few minutes, the customer service rep got back on the line and told me that the reason why we were having trouble is because the complementary NETGEAR Armor Plus security feature was about to expire and that I needed to upgrade to purchase this feature in order to continue to have smooth Internet service. This made absolutely no sense to me because everything that I’ve read about this feature positioned it as an optional feature and I was not interested in purchasing it. When I questioned her about never hearing anything about this required feature that would disrupt my Internet, she said that this is a practice that started in 2024 and when I further pressured her to explain to me if this was a Netgear specific practice or that any company selling a modem or router required a purchase of this type of security feature, she said that this was required of any company selling modems. Quite frankly, it all sounded bogus and when I did my checking after hanging up, I learned that there is no such change to how modems are purchased regardless of the manufacturer that requires you to buy extra security in order to continue using the Internet. The customer service rep said a few more things that were totally inappropriate and borderline unethical, but it’s too much to write in this review. This is very telling: I later learned as part of my troubleshooting that my Xfinity coverage area was having difficulties, which was resolved the next day and then I no longer had problems with the Internet. This was clearly a blatant and as far as I’m concerned illegal attempt to try to get me to purchase a package that is technically optional. Because of that experience, I returned this modem and asked for a full refund which Amazon is processing. Thank goodness this happened before my 30 day refund was up or I’d be stuck with a modem from a company with a rogue customer service rep and/or unscrupulous business practices.
