Saturn 4 Resin 3D Printer, 10” 12K HD Mono LCD, Smart Automatic Leveling, AI Print Monitoring, Large Printing Volume 218x122x220 mm³

The Elegoo Saturn 4 16k is a beast!!!!!! I have waited about 2 weeks to do a review of this 3D printer. During that 2 weeks it has been printing constantly day and night. Firstly I have a lot of experience with 3d printers. This is my 5th in a four year period and it is without a doubt the greatest step forward in printing there has been in that time period. Why? The reasons for me are as follows. 1. The heated vat is a game changer. Heating the resin to 30c means due to the heat the resin stays more fluid and flows back faster in the tray. Also my printers are in the garage which would have meant normally having to run expensive heaters which costs a small fortune over winter. 2. The tilting Vat means as it peels itself away from the F.E.P. The vacuum from the F.E.P does not break the models supports so you get less failed prints. I have had zero fails on this printer to date. 3. The volume of resin the vat holds is awesome, it’s just about 1 litre in total, which means no topping up mid print. 4. The self levelling bed just works. Forget the drama you may have seen on some videos saying you need to level it yourself or even that you have to sand your build plate as its not flat, this is just not true, it is perfect. 5. Printing speed. I am doing prints now in 3 hours which used to take 7, 8 or even 10 hours each. 6. Resolution and detail is so good now it’s incredible. For miniatures it’s 100% as good as premium bought products. I have provided some photos and a video to show what this printer is able to do and can 100% recommend it. Also, if you are looking to get into the hobby of 3D printing this product is without doubt the easiest way to start, as it does everything for you without any issues. I have had an Elegoo Mars printer for a couple of years and it has always been a great little printer. I wanted to step up to something bigger and the Saturn S was a perfect fit. Settled between the standard Saturn and the Saturn Pro the S model offers great value for money. The print size compared to the old Mars is impressive, it only for printing larger prints it also enables you to print a lot more in a single print. At 196x122x210mm³ the print size is impressive. The S model also has a built in charcoal filter which filters out a lot of the fumes from the printer and it really does cut the smell down a lot. I use this printer in an unventilated spare room and the filter really does seem to make a difference. Print quality is excellent and once I sorted out my spare room to a reasonable background temperature I got some amazing prints. Setup and leveling of the build plate is very straight forward. Cleaning of the vat is ok, and it is simple to ad and remove it. The only thing I don’t like is the usb slot o the side. The Mars had it on the rear which was also awkward. Why Elegoo can’t put it on the front I never know

Works great, have owned a few resin printers over the years and it's always been a little tricky to get the right enviroment as well as level the plate just right. This machine puts that old method in the bin once and for all. The self level plate does exactly what it's designed to and the heated vat keeps the resin where it should be temp wise so there is low risk of fails due to cold temps getting to the resin. The release mechanism is something i've never seen before but it works as intended and puts less stress on the build plate meaning less chance of failed prints. I've been using it for a week now constantly and had no fails and no issues with prints. It's the best resin printer i've owned to date. I do wish they would of added a handle to the lid though as one hand opening is difficult but it's a minor gripe against what overall is a great machine.

I too had the first one delivered then after a few days a mark appeared on the screen. So I sent it back. I tried a different brand printer in the meantime and print quality was awful. Not mentioning any brand, so sent this one back and ordered another Elegoo Saturn. Been working perfectly. Lowered the rise speed and retraction speed, and set the exposure to 4.0 for 8k Elegoo Resin and getting perfect results.

This was my first printer after primarily using FDM, it was simple and easy to set up and worked more a less straight away (I forgot to peel the film off the baseplate on the first run so I'm not counting that failure), One thing I did note was that the stepper motor produced a low frequency drone that carried particularly well through the walls in my house, however reducing the stepper motor speed by about 1/3 fixed that, Overall I think the fan could be a bit less loud, but I have absolutely no complaints on ease of use or print quality, For resin I've been using the standard Elegoo 8k grey resin, it's worked well so far and I see no reason to change, though I may have a go at the water washable ones in the future as it would be more convenient

der weitverbreitete FDM 3D-Druck hatte mich bisher wenig gereizt, da mir die Genauigkeit und Oberflächenqualität der FDM-Drucker für meine Anforderungen und Anwendungen nicht ausreicht. Deshalb fräste ich meine Teile bisher auf einer CNC-Fräse. Weil es aber auch hier Einschränkungen bzgl. möglicher Geometrie und vertretbarem Aufwand gibt, bin ich auf der Suche nach einer Lösung auf die Resin-Drucktechnik gestossen. Was ich da gelesen habe, war so vielversprechend, das ich mir den Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra bestellt habe. Das erste gedruckte Teil war selbstverständlich der als Beispiel mitgelieferte Turm ("Rook"). Ergebnis: Ich war schlichtweg begeistert ! Die inwendige Treppe, die filigrane Helix, der kleine Schriftzug oben, - das war genau das, was ich erhofft hatte zu bekommen. Aber es gibt doch noch einige allgemeine Dinge, die ich inzwischen erfahren und gelernt habe, die wichtig sind zu wissen, bevor man einen MSLA Drucker kauft: - Vorbereitung: die meisten zu druckenden Geometrien benötigen eine Stützstruktur (sogenannte "Supports"). Das Teil optimal und im richtigen Winkel im Slizer auf der Grundplatte zu platzieren ist nicht immer einfach. Das manuell zu machen kann ganz schön aufwendig sein und man muss sich intensiv mit der Geometrie und den Kräften am Modell auseinandersetzen. Hier hilft eine Automatik-Funktion, die es z.B. im Lychee Slizer gibt. Nicht immer optimal, aber für viele Teile ausreichend. Die Platzierung und Abstützung hat wesentlichen Einfluss auf die Formgenauigkeit eines Teiles. - Harz: ich habe mit dem wasserlöslichen Harz begonnen, aber festgestellt, dass für mich dessen Geruch eher unangenehmer ist als der des "normalen" Isopropanol-löslichen Harzes. Kann aber Geschmacksache sein. - Geometrien: die Möglichkeiten sind einfach super. Ich habe als Test Lego-Steine, kleine Zahnräder, Innen-Feingewinde, ...etc. gedruckt. Hier ist natürlich auf die Lage zu achten, damit die Supports möglichst nicht an kritischen Stellen sitzen bzw. an Stellen, die schlecht nachzubearbeiten sind. - Nachbehandlung: ich habe sehr schnell festgestellt, dass das Waschen und Härten der gedruckten Teile aufwendig ist und mir deshalb schnell eine Wasch- und eine Cure-Station besorgt. Damit funktioniert es deutlich besser. - Harze: es gibt weniger Auswahl verglichen mit Filamenten. Aber dafür z.B. transparente Harze. Ich habe mehrfach gelesen, dass die von MSLA Druckern gedruckte Teile spröde sein sollen. Das kann ich so nicht bestätigen. Mein Lieblingsharz ist das "ABS-like". Das hält schon ordentlich etwas aus. - Langzeit- / Alterungsverhalten: in verschiedenen Foren hatte ich vorab gelesen, dass aus Harz gedruckte Teile in der Sonne auf der Fensterbank nach 2 Jahren angeblich völlig "zerbröselt" sind. Hier kann ich noch keine Erfahrungswerte weitergeben. UV-härtende Kundststoffe werden z.B. in der Zahnmedizin schon seit vielen Jahren problemlos eingesetzt. Das Risiko (wenn es eines ist) gehe ich ein. In 2 Jahren weiss ich mehr. Fazit: ich würde mir den Saturn 3 Ultra sofort wieder kaufen. Auch wenn das Harz im Vergleich mit Filament deutlich teurer und der Aufwand der Nachbearbeitung (Waschen, Härten, Nacharbeiten der Spuren der Stützstruktur) erheblich grösser ist: das Ergebnis ist genial und den Preis und die Mühe wert. Auch als Neuling in dieser Drucktechnik gelingt einem, - dank intelligenter Technik - , mit dem Saturn 3 Ultra schon recht viel. Um aber das Potenzial des Druckers auszuschöpfen und komplexere Teile in hoher Qualität herzustellen, ist eine intensive Einarbeitung in diese Art von Drucktechnologie unabdingbar.

Also, ich hab heute auch meinen neuen Saturn 4 aufgestellt und meinen ersten Druck von gleichzeitig 10 Teilen aus rotem ABS getätigt. Hatte seit 2022 schon den Mars, mit dem ich auch gut zu recht kam. Der Saturn 4 sieht schon edel aus. Schon der erste Druck hat nach der automatischen Selbstkalibrierung des Geräts super funktioniert. Die Teile sehen klasse aus. Vorteile: - Plug & Play - automatische Selbstkalibrierung - optisch sehr gutes Design - drehbarer Einhausungsdeckel - beheizter Druckbehälter - einfach zu entnehmender Druckteller - grosser Resinbehälter - gute Haftung aber gut lösbar weitere Infos folgen.....
