This is the injector that draws the salt brine out of the tank. I had a problem of the salt brine tank overflowing after 25 years of use. First clean the screen found on the opposite side of the water softener. Then clean the injector. If this does not work, replace the injector. Make sure you get the same color injector. The color determines the orifice size. This will affect the rate of salt brine drawn out of the tank.
