Sourdough Dutch oven on a budget
A friend recommended this cast iron Dutch oven after he had bought a much pricier one & said the big name brands aren’t worth the price difference. Not only does the base do the same job at lower price, but the expensive brand doesn’t have a reversible lid the way this model does; the lid can function as a skillet on its own.I’m using this just for a sourdough bread Dutch oven. The recipe & method I use, calls for putting 3 ice cubes in with the loaf as it bakes, for steam to help it rise. My friend said no matter how he tries to take care of his expensive brand Dutch oven, it still rusts from the ice cubes. If that’s the use I’m going for & it’s gonna rust anyway, I’m very happy with this well-priced & sturdy Dutch oven just for sourdough. This was only my 2nd attempt at making sourdough bread, and clearly these are “new baker” loafs, but they’re leaps & bounds better than the ones from my first batch when I didn’t have a Dutch oven & cobbled together something “good enough.”Cook times were exactly per recipe. The size is just right for a round or oval boule standard size bread loaf & probably other shapes I haven’t tried yet as well.Bonus: this included a freebie set of silicone grip pads for the handles. That was unexpected & nice & practical.

Multiuse dutch oven pot and detachable lid that serves as a great griddle/comal
I admit I was a little skeptical about the non-sticking quality and pres-easoning but both are absolutely true. This product is easy made with high quality, easy to clean (although I do recommend wiping it down carefully at least as soon as your done cooking) and love the silicone removable handles to allow you to pick up the handles when the pot is hot. The removable lid has been great for using as a griddle/comal for cooking both corn and flour tortillas as well as pancakes, eggs or frying bacon without overcooking. Heats fast but evenly.

Great for bread making
I got this because I needed a good cast iron Dutch oven to cook bread it. This is well made, very thick metal. It keeps the heat even and cooks the bread eventually. I was worried that the bottom may burn but everything came out perfectly. It clears up easily, just wipe it out once it's cool and your good to go.

Great cast iron for cooking and sourdough!
Love that this is multi-use. I got it for sourdough but bought this one specifically because the top can be used to cook on instead of only being a lid. It is heavy duty for sure, just like a Lodge. Love that it comes with the silicone handles as well as this gets HOT!

GREAT PRICE AND BAKES GREAT BREAD
Excellent cast iron Dutch oven and the lid can be used for cornbread or for frying. I purchased it to bake bread and my only complaint is about those red handles. They're silicone but most silicone can only withstand 428 degrees and most bread recipes baked in the Dutch Oven method requires 475 degrees so they can't be used in that application. But, if you're cooking below 428 degrees, you can put them on and leave them on in the oven, which is nice.

Perfect for sourdough bread
I got this one to bake sourdough bread. It is a perfect size. And two small silicone holders are too small to use . I mean it is dangerous you may burn you fingers or hands. I am not using them to hold this heavy Dutch oven. I had to reseasoned again. And I am enjoying using it when I bake sourdough bread. And I don’t think I need expensive brand Dutch oven if you are buying it to make bread. And I’m using this lids as skillet which is a bonus.
