It is what it is
It's a functional retractable hook. It is long enough to reach the loop for an overhead window. The shaft is lightweight metal and durable to a reasonable point. You can loosen or tighten it to prevent it from collapsing when using it.

Terrible, very thin tin metal, broke on first day. Should have sent it back, but not worth my time.If you are using this for anything over 1 lb, do not waste your time

Cannot be used to rotate something. Handle comes off if unscrewed too much
Works fine for pulling or pushing. I was hoping I could use this to crank the awning out, but the hook comes unscrewed and the pieces of the pole turn. Stores down short for as long as it can be extended out to. Light weight. Handle is easy to grip but if it is twisted too much it comes off the metal pole; it is easy to put back together and twist tight again. I'm going to coat the hook so it doesn't scratch things.

Broke after short time
Thinner pole than expected. Failed in short order. Hook came off with 2 sections of pole. My awning is a tough one to extend so I can say the pole won’t work on awning that’s not under so much tension, but it failed on mine. Try at own risk.

Using to open & close drapes
I bought this to open and close my drapes that are on rings. Didn’t feel safe standing on stool to be able to close blinds. So this works fine for me and safer to stand on floor. I just have to get the knack to turn right way to get the hook out. Just received yesterday and have used it 2X
