Q: Could somebody tell me what the trick is to installing this..? I've been fighting with it for over an hour.It just refuses to pop in..

there are 2 small square cut outs on your dash, a butter knife under a seem ill pop them out.

Q: Will this work with a dashmat cover?

I really don't thing it will because it "snaps on" to the dash. Can't have anything between the daystar tray and dash it's self. Would probably have cut dashmat around tray after tray installed. Otherwise the tray works great and adds much needed storage for small items that are normally taking up space in my cup holders.

Q: What are the exact measurements of this item?

It is 9-3/4 wide x 8-1/4 deep ( front to back) and 2-1/2 high at it highest point. It fits exactly on the dash of the H-3 and snaps into the knockouts on the dash.

Q: what does the options base or x mean?

There are a few models with different equipment. Almost all of the differences are exterior. This piece fits all models, all years.

Sits flush, looks like it is OEM and adds much-needed temporary storage to my H3.

Fit perfectly, sits flush, looks like it is OEM. Front tray not good for modern-sized (big) cell phones, but back tray is.

I love this console and you could not go wrong with this purchase

I purchased this for my Hummer h3. Didn't even know this product was made for the Hummer. It stays in place by latching into the dash. Install was easy, all I had to do was pop out a cover on the dash and set the product on top where it clicks in perfectly. Stays in place as if it was built right into it. I set my sunglasses in the container wallet business cards or even my phone. Makes the dash look very nice and the product is very sturdy and high quality and I would definitely recommend it
