Terrific value!
Had this really good looking laptop for a week, very happy with it. Upgraded to Windows 11 Pro (mashable, $15) today (easy). Works perfectly, very fast, brilliant screen, excellent keyboard, added a Logitech wireless mouse (also easy). It was quick and simple to add it to my existing Dell account, their support site says I have a 6-month warranty. I have a 64 Gb Crucial memory kit (B0BLTG7TN6) on the way from Amazon. Will probably upgrade to a 4Tb NVMe next. I'll have this laptop for a long time.

Solid, large quality screen
6mo later - still solid. Love the keyboard; has backlight. Excellent screen display (IPS-like) and being larger than your average 15" is key. Solid performance, but does get loud oddly fast. Very solid construction for its price. Fingerprint scanner works well. Fast wifi. Battery is excellent.

Excellent all around laptop
This had everything I was looking for. 1TB, FHD camera w/cover, fingerprint reader, decent RAM, backlit keyboard, several USB 3.2 ports, Wifi 6E/AX. However, first thing I did was upgrade to Win 11 Pro. Once all set up, I realized the wireless was flakey and slow getting data...it frequently throttles to under 100 mbps (though I have the 600 plan). Very consistent using the speed test site. My other laptops consistently stay near 590mbps. Even after many resets and troubleshooting, the Realtek Wifi 6E card is deemed unstable in this laptop. Enough time wasted, so I put in a spare Intel AX210 Wifi 6E card (Intel does support AX on AMD)....wow it's so stable now (btw, my other laptops have this same Intel NIC). Oh, also upgraded to 32GB (2x16gb) Kingston Fury ddr5/5600. Aside from that, this laptop is awesome and fast.

There are no directions. Dell does not respond to their client at all. I hate them.
There are no clues as to how to get started with this laptop. I have started to hook it up 3 hours ago and I still don't know whether I can hook up a mouse to the device. It advertised Microsoft products all the time, you just have to ignore, to continue on with starting up. No Dell support on the phone to get you going. I have had many, multiple computers in my home since 1982. This is a first for me in purchasing with no support with this laptop computer. It will most likely be my last DELL, and if I can find a way to avoid Microsoft I will. New Problem now Dell is threating me with 2 step verification. I have to have it installed, and I have to have an account with Dell. Two things I try to avoid at all costs. Now I will check out other new laptops and do the move myself. Can't get in touch with Dell! They are the worst Computer Outfit I have encountered. Would not buy again! Oh, I forgot to mentioned, One Drive it is a disaster, that why I bought a huge hard drive, but overnight this laptop converted this laptop and several others hard drive all their data was stripped and place on to ONE DRIVE.

Very fast, but lacking in USB ports and storage slots
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I got the Dell Inspiron 5645 for Amazon Prime Day in July 2024. Since then this has been a good computer. The price was around $815, which included a protection plan, and I'd say it was worth the price. Most notably, it's more than 5 times faster than my previous fastest computer, which is really great. I put Linux on it and it has run well, though in the last month or two it's been a little glitchy. As of today it's been able to run all my Steam games, as well as a virtual machine for Windows 10. I have only two real complaints about it: the computer has only 2 USB A ports and only one slot for a disk drive. My previous computer was a Dell Inspiron 3505 I got in 2021. It had 3 USB A ports and two slots for disk drives, and only cost about $300. I got the 5645 on Prime Day, but I had found out it was Prime Day only about 4 or 5 hours before it ended. I had a number of things to research in that time, so I didn't really look into the 5645 as thoroughly as I'd have liked. But once I got it and discovered it only had the 2 USB's and 1 storage slot I decided I should probably send it back and get a better machine. But after a week or two of researching it didn't really seem like there was a better laptop available around that price. Apparently the laptop industry has largely decided to only put 1 storage slot and 2 USB A's in their laptops, which I consider very awful. So I ended up keeping it. The lack of a second storage slot and 3rd USB A made it extremely difficult for me to install Linux (which I did largely to avoid Windows Recall). It was the first time I'd installed Linux, but these hardware limitations made it far more difficult than it should have been. Overall I do recommend this machine. Just know that in some regards laptop hardware quality seems lesser than it used to be.

Great.
Good value. Very good processing power. Decent battery life for basic tasks like note taking and videos. Probably around 7-9 hours if you turn on the battery saver around half brightness. I use it for engineering and it suits me just fine.

Powerful and Sleek – Great Performance
I ordered this PC with a Ryzen 7 processor, 16GB RAM, and a 16-inch display, and it arrived in perfect condition. The design is beautiful—sleek, modern, and surprisingly lightweight for its size. It looks and feels premium right out of the box. Windows 11 runs smoothly with no issues so far. Everything feels fast and responsive, making it great for both work and entertainment. The only downside I've noticed is that the laptop tends to heat up a bit during extended use. It’s not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind.

Not built for handling multiple tasks. Freezes at least 3 times a day and requires a restart
Had this laptop for about two months before it started freezing and required a restart. Now I'm up to at least 2-5 restarts a day, especially when on Zoom or Teams calls for work. It's also not built for handling multiple tasks at once. My job requires me to film and edit video and audio, and the laptop overheats and makes that loud releasing air noise quickly after beginning to work on those projects. Now that I've had the laptop about 8 months, I notice the battery life also drains more quickly. It's unfortunate because it is such a pretty laptop, and the reviews were good. But not worth the hassle if you need a laptop for conducting simultaneous work and working long hours.
