When we were very young (Classic Books) Paperback – 20 Feb. 2024

My children grew up with Christopher Robin and I love the magic and rythmical use of language in this book. My grandchildren are into more contemporary books but I recite a poem from WWWVY and they love that - so I am gradually introducing more poems from the book. They particularly like the rythm of "James James Morrison Morrison Weatherby George Dupree, took great care of his mother, although he was only three". I think using poems like this helps their appreciation of language and music as well.

A book full of wonderful poems which have kept their charm for over sixty years. My granddaughter aged 6 is able to read, understand and enjoy them. The current edition is colourful and appealing to children today a very good update.

I have been looking for a copy of this book for some time and was delighted to find that amazon is selling it. My own children loved this book with the rhymning stories and wonderful illustrations. My 3.5 years old grandson has already had lots of pleasure from the book and has discovered 'matching words' which make the story flow. The book is a smaller format to what I would have liked but is the best available. The quality of the binding and pages is excellent and I would recommend this as part of any home library.

Everybody should have a copy of this book - not just children. I know the whole book by heart - that is how much I love it. My copy is 55 years old and looking 'loved'. Read 'The Kings Breakfast' and then resist a recitation every time you serve marmalade of a morning! The poems are easy to learn - ideal for the young reader. Fun to recite together - which is the foundation of loving books.Young friends receive a copy of this from me at the earliest opportunity.

I lost my original hard cover copy of this lovely book 20 years ago when I moved house . For some reason the words of Disobedience came into my head and I decided I had to replace my lost book to remembet what happened to James James Morrison Morrison Weatherby George Dupree, who took great care of his mother , though he was only three. Absolute delightful book for the under 10s.

I give this to all the newborn babies. great poems. fabulous illustrations !

Enjoyed reading on clear print with illustrations I remember. Bought two. One for me and second for son and new great granchild. Son recalled remembering from age three. Could read at five probably from memory.
