You can work this into any wood. THe light brown gives a soft staining color to the wood. It would revitalize the wood if it is dry and the varnish has worn off. Apply it with steel wool. It will leave a light coating of wax.

How long would this last on kitchen cabinets?

I’ve never used it on kitchen cabinets. It has a very strong odor.
