The Minka-Aire F519 52-inch Concept II flush mount ceiling fan is ideal for low ceilings with a total hanging depth of 10-1/2 inches, with or without the light. Simple in style yet ingenious by design, this hugger fan is housed in a sleek metal body finished in brushed nickel with three silver blades. It's also available in mahogany, oil rubbed bronze, polished nickel, and white finishes.With a blade sweep of 52-inches, the three concave silver blades are pitched at 14-degrees for efficient air movement. Excluding the lights, the F519 has an airflow CFM of 6300 using 59 watts of electricity. The airflow efficiency per watt is 106.78 CFM. And the 172mm x 20mm spinner motor completes 179/70 rpm on high/low speeds. The optional integrated light is shielded by a frosted glass lens, and the fixture uses one 100-watt mini-can halogen bulb (included). Jury is still out
Jury is still out on this fan. We bought a total of 4 of these (52 inch and 44 inch). The quality of the fan itself seems to be hit or miss. After putting one up it was so out of wack it was ridiculous. We took it back down, set it on the floor and got the same wobbly result with it spinning so clearly defective craftsmanship. The light shade turns up into the base and either the grooves in the base or on the shade itself are also unpredictable. On every one of the fans the gap between the fan base and glass cover isn't even - one side will have a small opening between the fan and the glass and the other side a much larger gap. For the ones in the bedrooms it isn't so noticeable since you mostly have a close up view but the one in the dining room you can see from other rooms and it's pretty frustrating and disappointing.Noise wise -- jury is still out. We have it on the summertime setting currently but it got a little cold the other day and we started a fire and changed the setting to winter. The noise coming from the fan was worse than the ones we replaced these with. Perhaps over time it'll work itself out but if it doesn't I'll be back and definitely changing my star rating.

great fan when wired correctly
the minka-aire f519-bn 52 inch concept II fan arrived in great condition and is a breeze to install - however, when I powered it on I found that the dome light and the fan control seemed to be connected (turn on the fan and the light turns on, make the light brighter and the fan slows down, fan won't run without lightbulb installed)... on closer examination I found that the wire connection block was oddly miswired: the blue & white wires switched locations from one side of the block to the other (blue is for the light and white is for the fan) - after rewiring the blue & white wires outside of the block the fan works correctlyI've probably voided some kind of warranty by rewiring the fan, and it's quite obvious that minka-aire doesn't test their fans before they leave the factory - but other than that this is a really nice fan

Nice smooth fan
Quiet and smooth fan. The design is nice an unique. The halogen is bright and provides additional lighting to the room so that was nice.We hired an electrician to install it. It didn't seem too complicate. However, the receiver circuit shorted after installation. We called Minka and they sent out a replacement within a few days.This is our third Minka fan and we're very happy with it. We've had it for less than 6 months so I cannot attest to its durability (except for the initial shorted receiver).

Do not buy this if this is your primary light source.
We have two of them that we have had over a year now. The fan part works wells, however, the light fixture is horrible. Do not buy this if it is the primary light source of the room. Also, the bulbs go out frequently. One of our fans rubs up against the glass cover so you have to make sure you tighten it just right otherwise you can hear the rubbing.

Nice quality finish everywhere else
Very straightforward install, working in maybe 15 minutes including removing an old Hunter model. The plastic blades work well, are balanced and very quiet. Nice quality finish everywhere else. My only recommendation is that the wall mounted unit should be easier to turn the light on by feel in the dark. You really have to feel for the small upper button.UPDATE: the controller started to act strange in that the lowesst two speeds would click off after a few seconds. A quick call to the manufacturer tech who courteously diagnised the problem, sent at no charge a replacement part within days and working perfectly again. Great customer service, great high quality unit.

Won't Reverse Direction
After reading many of the reviews here, and doing first hand and Internet research as well, I decided upon these fans for our bedrooms. However, I was very disappointed to discover, after paying for an electrician to install it, that one of these fans would not reverse direction. Upon pushing the reverse button on the remote, the fan speeds up, makes a clicking noise, and then slows down but does not reverse direction. Directions in the keep the fan is supposed to speed up, then switch direction, slow down, and then go back to the previous speed setting in the other direction. It's stuck on winter mode and we're headed into summer. After reading online forums, I discovered that there is often a faulty receiver that does not allow reverse directions. Now I have to try to figure out how to get a replacement receiver and remote, and then have the electrician come back out and install the replacement receiver. For the amount of money I'm paying for this fan this should never happen. Called HansenDirect and they've never called me back.

Pleased... As expected :)
I already owned a Minka Concept II 48" ceiling fan so I already knew what to expect from the 52" version in terms of features. However, I was a little concerned as to whether or not the unit would be able to provide enough cooling air flow with just another 4". I am pleased to say that it did. I went with another Concept II as I was not able to find another low profile fan with as much style for a significantly lower price. I had installed a few other fans but they were either not powerful enough or hung lower than I like for my 8' ceiling. Once I got it in & installed, I knew I had made the right choice even though my initial efforts led me away from this particular fan. Great product.

Fantastic, quiet fans
I was looking for flush mount fans for my house (ceilings are only 8 feet). These fans are fantastic! I've installed the brushed nickle, as well as versions of the white and bronze. All of them are extremely easy to install. I also put a Hunter fan in one of the rooms - to compare, the Hunter fan took me 2 hours to install with all of the many little parts and cruddy directions. The Minka fans are by far the easiest fans I've ever installed (and I've done quite a few). Took me no more than 20 minutes. And the results are fantastic! Extremely quiet, a light that will dim (which is important in kids rooms), looks great. I've had one for a year now, and three others for 6 months, and not a single problem.
