I absolutely love this thing. My mom has had so many different knife sets, and eventually just throws them away after getting so dull. This thing works WONDERS with normal kitchen knives. I haven't tested it on big knives yet. Not sure how well it'll work. The best way to test how well it works is on the skin of a tomato. This thing makes my mom's dull knives, slice like brand new blades. Take a knife, gently glide the sharp edge over the skin of a tomato, if it doesn't slice, it's dull. sharpen it with this sharpener, and BOOM. it slices like a hot knife through butter.
