Great EDC knife. Couldn't be happier with it. I will definitely be doing more business with Coast. Opens beautifully. And, one handed closing is a breeze.

Perfect piece

This knife is easy to keep sharp. It's a nice size and shape as it fits in the hand quite nicely. It's also pretty durable as well, as it's made from high quality materials. It glides open with a wonderfully smooth motion. Which makes it easy to quickly pull out and use in any situation. However, it does stay firmly in place when closed as well. So, no need to fear any mishaps from the blade opening in your pocket. The design is great for anyone who enjoys the asthetic look of Damascus, but doesn’t want their actual blade to be made from it. As it features Damascus scale handles and a black titanium nitride coated steel blade. The clip is strong and keeps the knife in place when clipped and not in use.My one complaint is that the pin screw to hold the blade in place does become a bit loose from time to time. Which is a simple fix with a bit of thread lock to keep it in place as it's properly seated once re-tightened and doesn't cause any major issues if properly cared for and/or a bit of thread lock is used to keep it snug.It's a great buy for any knife collector or enthusiast for sure!

The frame lock on this extremely sharp knife failed and I ended up with a stab wound in my hand as a result. It did not require extreme force to make this happen. The blade had a lot of axial play which means the blade and the frame lock were not in contact with each other when opened. I could see a gap of .010" between the blade detention and the frame lock.Would not recommend this as it is not a safe knife.

In spite of all the gimmicks employed it is a really nice quality made pocket knife. I see right through the whatever oxide marketing BS protective coating while it might work It's not a "feature" I look for.The Damascus pattern is nice, but I know it's only purpose its to make the knife look more "high end" like hand crafted blades. The pen clip is only there to make the knife appear to be "so light weight" It is a light weight knife, but you aren't going to clip it to your shirt pocket like a pen it's still to heavy for that to be practical. The real features that make this knife good are the fact that it is both sharp and easy to open. It is light weight for it's size which makes keeping it in your pocket much less cumbersome. I actually don't like "coated" blades because it's not a matter of if it will get scratched, but when. And there isn't much you can do to correct scratches on a coated blade. You can always polish/buff minor scratches out of an un-coated blade. Coatings on things also make me wonder about the quality of what is under the coating. As the old saying goes "Thick paint cover the ____ I ain't" I'm not saying the blade quality is bad, but you just never know when something is covered up. It makes me think they are far more proud of the handle than the blade itself. But that's just the way I see things. In my past experiences with knifes it takes using one for a few months before any quality issues are made apparent so take this review for what it is. If I do find any quality issues with the knife I will update this review with them later on. For now though I think I'm going to like carrying it with me daily.

This knife is just OK. Heavy for its size. Decent enough quality for the money. Not super impressed with the locking mechanism. It works but it's not very convenient.As a user of the crkt CEO series knives, they outperform this Coast offering in nearly every way. The only downside versus the CEO series is that those are plastic.

I always carry a small blade or pocket knife with me all the time and there's always at least 1 knife in everyone of my vehicles. I honestly did not know Coast made knifes. These one comes in a really nice box and is well padded and wrapped from the factory.Once you open the box, you can see the blade is wrapped in a velvet like cloth the one you get when you buy new prescription eyewear. The blade is on the narrow side especially for those with big hands like me. Flick it open and you can see the point is super pointed and this blade is razor sharp. The blade feels balance in my hands and deployment takes a bit getting used to since the width of the blade is narrow.I cut several sheet of papers just to see how sharp the blade it and man it is crazy sharp. The blade action feels a bit on the loose side, but nothing a screwdriver can fix. So far this blade appears to be well made. Only time will tell how long it will last and how long the blade can keep it edge for.Overall, this is one of the nice blades, just wish it was a tad bit wider and thicker. But overall, it's a good EDC blade or something you can give the love one for that quick letter opener.
