This set is so beautiful! Toy get a feathered fountain pen, a stand and some ink as well as multiple tip sizes. Then you put get a letter opener, a wax seal maker, some melting wax, a spoon for melting in and a candle for heating the wax. The colorful wax melts super well, and the seal stamp makes a beautiful impression on the envelope! I feel so fancy writing with the pen and sealing a card with the wax seal. It makes me was to resume the practice of writing letters and mailing cards!

I got this for my eldest daughter because she loves pretty handwriting (that isn't schoolwork), and she absolutely loves what she can do with it. It did take some practice at first (she didn't do much fancy writing before recently), so it's not "out-of-the-box" easy to use -- there is a learning curve that comes with it.

This brings back memories for me! Before everyone had software to typeset music by computer, I used to write it out by hand, with a quill pen and India ink, on heavy manuscript paper. Twenty years ago I went through a lot of ink and nibs.This is a startlingly comfortable and easy-to-use quill. It wrote smoothly and evenly from the first dip, with a very fine line. You have to use premium paper though: if you write on cheap typing paper, you'll see a spider web of black creep outward from your beautiful fine lines as the ink soaks into the pulp.The set includes six nibs and a decent-sized starter bottle of ink. For writing you'll only want to use the two finest. The wide nibs are intended for calligraphy only.A pen holder and a bundle of sealing wax supplies round out the box to make a fun 19th-century-themed kit, well worth the price.

I like to do calligraphy and get fancy every so often. When this came up, I decided to indulge myself for the fun of it. None of the parts are of impressive quality. Indeed, I own individual pens that cost 3x this kit. However, that isn't to be disparaging. Everything here works just fine, and is a good way to get into the fun of things on a budget. If you've never experimented with this sort of thing before, then this is a great place to start. Learning how to dip the pen and write with it; how to melt the wax properly; how to set the seals - there is a bit of skill in it all, and you can make a certain dance out of it once you know what you're doing.Overall, if you're looking for a fun way to feel fancy and dabble in some of these outdated skills, this is a great kit to do so with.

I love fountain pens, and I love those wax stamps you see on really fancy letters.With that said, I wanted to order this for myself as a little christmas gift.The ink jar and fountain pen is a ton of fun to use, although I haven't figured out how to make anything that looks decent yet.The wax beads are fun to play with and melt, and are even more fun to make into stamps.I wish this kit would come with some old looking envelopes you can play with and make into nice gift cards, though.

I gave this to my daughter who loves art and magic. This set includes a lot of accessories to experiment with. I would consider it a beginner set to get her into decorative writing.✍️

This is a really beautiful set, and would make a great gift for anyone who likes calligraphy and a bit of the old letter writing arts.The wax for the seals melts very easily and the colors are lovely. The variety of seals is really wonderful: a romantic heart, some steampunk gears, a romantic rose, and a beautiful tree. The only problem I had with it at all was that the spoon got a little warm as I held it to melt the wax, but it wasn't a big enough deal to take off a star.The quill pen is a great start to quill calligraphy. The nibs go in smoothly and hold nice and tight. The ink is very smooth. I have to say, this quill is just plain fun to write with.Even if the person you got this for never got it out of the box, it would be a beautiful and elegant gift. So pretty and so fun. Highly recommended!

For someone who is interested in trying calligraphy and feather pen writing, this is a great introductory set! Would not recommend for young children as there are small parts and a bottle of ink (yikes!), but would be a great starter set for an older child or young adult!
