This is quite plasticky. Each unit takes 2x AAA batteries (not supplied) - I use Energiser Lithium because of their 20 year shelf-life and non-leak guarantee (available on Amazon). It is difficult to work out which way round the batteries are supposed to go - they go top to tale +/-. Once you have deciphered the instructions the unit is easy to operate and seems to work well with my Nikon D5300. A lead is supplied which goes from the receiver (small unit) to the camera. If the camera is set on single shot it will take one shot, if you want multiple shots you set the unit to multiple shots and also have to set the camera. It is easy to use and for the money much better than infrared items, like that supplied with camera. You can also set timed shots - you choose spacing and total number of shots. The receiver will either fit on the camera hot-shoe, or it has a tripod standard screw hole (so you could use a flash extension bar with it, ot just leave it hanging as it doesn't weigh much.
