Black diffusion filter, 55mm at 1/2 grade gives softer edged "cinematic" effect to shots
This is the 1/2 grade black diffusion filter from K&F Concept K series (Nano-K).The 55mm circular filter is very light in weight but the aluminum is machined so that the rim fits perfect and solidly. I was able to twist this onto the front of my Sony AX-53 video camcorder smoothly. This is a nice filter with low reflection and anti-glaring. I have no vignetting and it gives a softer edged "cinematic" effect to shots. It comes in a nice plastic, protective case and they include three microfiber cleaning cloths. This is a great addition to a photography toolkit that achieves a softer cinematic effect.

Useful in Creating a Stylish, Cinematic Look.
I’ve been a fan of K&F Filters for sometime now, and have come to appreciate the consistency and the quality of the brand. The majority of my lenses live their lives with K&F UV protective filters on their front element.Like many others, as the quality of mobile phone imagery and videography have improved to levels of near professional quality, I’ve begun to concentrate more energy into taking advantage of those attributes, not to mention their portability. And as with others, or at least in the case of the iPhone Pro Max phones that I use, have found their unavoidable in-camera sharpening to create imagery, both still and video, that are unrealistic to the senses, with processing that is too apparent, often denigrating the emotional character of the user’s intent. There are many ways to compensate for this effect, but one the simplest and most expedient is by putting a diffusion filter, such as the K&F Black Mist diffuser, in front of the lens. Doing so is believed to create a more cinematic, analogue (as in film) effect. Imagery that creates a more natural emotional experience for the viewer and more closely matches how they view the world through their own eyes. And such is the usefulness of the K&F Concept Nano-K series of Black Diffusion filters, and in this case, in ½ mist strength. The larger the number, the greater the diffusing effect.Using a spot meter and a neutral grey card, I find that the ½ Mist diffuser absorbs about 7/10 of a stop of the light passing through it. For me, ½ diffusion is pretty subtle, and that’s what I want it to be; you don’t want to go from one extreme to another. Just enough to take the edge off of the in-camera processing, and ½ strength is what I consider a good strength to that end.As I noted at the beginning, I’ve come to rely on the quality of K&F filters, and for the reasons that the seller asserts, but most importantly to me, the use of high quality, multi-coated, anti-reflective glass. Putting low quality glass in front of a high-quality lens denigrates the lens quality to that of the filter in front of it. That is why I have confidence in K&F filters.Along with the filter is supplied a useful protective case and three cleaning clothes.I’ve included two pictures of a pasta box so that the reader may judge the degree of the ½ Mist Black Diffusion filters effect. One is without diffusion, the other with.

Great price for a good filter. Really nice softening of light sources.
The effect from using a black diffusion filter can be quite beautiful in the right circumstances. This filter provides that at a great price without sacrificing built quality.

A great value
I've purchased far more expensive black mist filters, and for the value price of an 82mm K&F Concept one I wasn't expecting this to be equal to those. I wish I'd known last year when I bought a pair of 1/4 diffusers in a smaller filter and saved a lot. I would highly recommend these over the pricier filters.

Superb Filter To Achieve Professional Results
Since the advent of digital photography, I haven't been a big filter guy... I use circular polarizers and neutral density filters to create the image - then move to software in the computer to apply the desired effects. When given the opportunity to try K&F's Black Mist Filter - I jumped at it, as a good filter of this type can save a lot of time in post-processing - particularly when used for video.A black mist type filter is designed to push highlights while preserving the shadows - and the effect is to create a dreamy, hazy kind of look without destroying the contrast of the image. Portrait photographers use these types of filters to help eliminate the excessively sharp image quality of modern digital photographs - and do so without making the image appear out-of-focus.Another attribute is that it can help improve the bokeh (out-of-focus areas) so that a lower quality lens can have smoother, creamier bokeh. The first thing I noticed was that the threads of the filter were extremely precise in fitting my step-up ring. The filter screwed on the ring with the smoothness you would expect from a high-end filter.I took a few selfies while finding different lighting to experiment with - and I was surprised at how well it held good focus while creating the desired look. I can see myself using this in a variety of filming circumstances. All in all I'm very pleased with this filter and would recommend it to anyone looking to add to their arsenal of photography tools.
