Got wired internet downstairs without drilling through the floor

Thanks to this device I got wired internet downstairs in a townhouse, and without drilling a hole and dropping a cable through. Using it for a couple of weeks, works fine for me. My internet is not the fastest, nor do I do any gaming - so I can say nothing about that - but in my application performance is great. Installation is as easy as to plug in. In my case I needed one Ethernet cable a little longer - but that is an inexpensive thing available everywhere and the length needed/desired may be particular to your case. I wish more things could be as easy to install and use as this and I hope that it will continue working as it works now. The boxes are only slightly warm on touch - so I hope they will last.

This works, and stays working

Been using TP-Link powerline adapters for the past few years, and continually frustrated with the drop in connection and no automated reconnect, meaning manual cycling of the power on one or all of the adapters. Some days I'd lose connection several times, then it would work fine for a month or so, then back, blah, blah, blah. Regardless, I could never get it to set-it-and-forget-it.This unit here has been a night and day difference. Plugged in, connected, no dropped connections and/or it quickly and automatically reconnects. Throughput is fine for my needs, seems to be more than sufficient for remote (surveillance) video access. Happy as a clam with them.

Ethernet via electrical outlet

I Like that this was a simple plug and play device, and felt the price was reasonable. I was introduce to PoE by a coworker who explain how using a PoE device I could bypass trying to wire each room of my house for Ethernet. Especially in rooms too far from my wireless router. I bought this Zyxel Powerline device pair, and first tried it out in my house which worked great! However, I have the task of streaming our Facebook Sunday Service live for my church and decided to try it out there to connect desktop to the internet. The desktop was connecting via WiFi, but would occasionally lose the connectivity during the live stream. This of course was a source of frustration for our viewers. I decide I would try the PoE as a means of connecting the Desktop which is on an upper level of the church in the sanctuary, with the router residing downstairs where the offices are located. At first I thought the distance between the PoE devices were too great, but after several weeks of use, the FPS connection stabilized and any issues I once had via WiFi was now resolved. This has been in place now the last 9 months, and have proven to work great for connectivity. I plan to purchase yet another of these, with plans to connect a WiFi access point router to serve up strong WiFi connection in yet another area of the church where presently we have no WiFi, or any means of network connection without running an Ethernet wiring to those areas. I have recently bought two more of these for my own house, with the intent to test connection of my Orbi Router (which is not the main internet router) as an access point router to extend/strengthen the WiFi signal to the dead zone areas in the far reaches of the house and get it closer to the Orbi satellite. I gave this PoE 4 stars only because I loss use of an electrical outlet and depending on what you are plugging into the remains socket, the PoE may overlap a portion of that outlet thereby rendering it unusable also. Very portable and can be used on any electrical outlet in the house (not surge protectors). I definitely recommend these PoE devices as replacements for having to wire your house for Ethernet.RmN Rural, KY

Works great with my existing HomePlug AV2 connectors

This device does not provide a WiFi signal, it's for turning your regular power outlets (and the backing power network) into a Gigabit Ethernet network. I had some old Zyxel HomePlug AV2 adapters I had bought in 2018 which are no longer available. These new ones I bought to be compatible with my old ones. These new Zyxel ones fit the bill, they work great with my existing network.I have one of them plugged into a wall in my living room to supply Gigabit Ethernet to a VoIP desk phone I have in a central location. For that it works great! I plan to use the other one in the pair in my wife's office, if she ends up needing wired Ethernet for her job.I didn't need to call tech support, so I can't rate that. I also don't use it for gaming, so I can't rate that either. The only complaints I have are that there isn't an outlet built into this adapter (so it consumes an outlet, and makes it difficult to plug anything into the other outlet), and it doesn't appear to provide Power over Ethernet (PoE), which that VoIP phone could have used. But these aren't enough to knock it down a star, I knew they'd have this problem when I bought them.

66% slower than WiFi

Well, as far as positives go, the product was very easy to install. I plugged one unit next to my router, and the other next to my PC and Windows detected the network immediately. Unfortunately ZyXEL Powerline AV1200/1300 simply doesn't deliver anything close to the speeds it advertises. See my pictures. Photo 1 shows my laptop connected to the router via ethernet cable. Speed test shows a download speed of 143.35 Mbps, which is exactly what my Centurylink DSL2 connection is supposed to provide. Photo 2 shows the same laptop, this time connected via 5G WiFi, approximately 30 feet from the router. Still pretty respectable for WiFi. Photo 3 shows the same laptop side by side with the powerline connected PC. The room is upstairs and several walls away from the router, so it's not surprising that the 5G WiFi showed 72.59 Mbps, nearly a 50% reduction from wired ethernet. But the powerline adapter delivered only 24.41 Mbps, 66% slower than the WiFi signal in the same room! And a whopping 83% slower than Ethernet! If you absolutely have no WiFi reception at all, this device will provide some connectivity. But speeds will be much less than you hoped for. I'm returning and investing in a good PCIE WiFi card.
