The Kefir Cookbook
The Hospital gave me kefir grains to boost my immune system and help my digestive system when I was diagnosed with a celiac problem a few years ago.I only used Kefir to prepare yogurt for breakfast and never much used in elsewhere in cooking. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the Kefir Cookbook with all the different recipes that can be made with kefir - from soups to salad dressings to dips and sauces. After reading the book and experimenting with the different recipes, I have now begun to use kefir where cream is required in savoury cooking, in curries etc.. I have used kefir with cow, goat and sheep's milk and found that kefir enhances flavours and boosts creaminess when used with different ingredients.Highly recommended!

Great cookbook
Just arrived today and I breezed through it just to see what was in it. Looks like a great addition to my kitchen. I just began making my own kefir and of all things, this cookbook is by the daughter of the founders of Lifeway which makes Kefir which I was drinking their product until it disappeared off the shelves. It was by far the best tasting and having GWS as a military vet with lots of digestive challenges, kefir has proved to be better for me than even yogurt.I'm experimenting with it in my kitchen and loo forward to making some of the recipes in this book. Lots of really helpful information to get you started in this book. Since COVID also trying my hand at making homemade bread but it always comes out so dense. I thought it was because of my beginner skills (or lack thereof!) but in this book they say that using whole wheat flour makes for denser bread. Well...whatdaya know? That is all I was using !! In all the YT videos I watched to learn how to make bread, that was never mentioned once! So I recommend this cookbook for your cooking library!

Finally kefir savoury recipes besides smoothies
I couldn't find any recipes besides sweet ones. I don't like sweets. But I needed kefir in my life. I love that I can make my own butter, sour cream dips etc. And since they are cold they don't lose their culture bacteria! Win,win!

Exceeded expectations
This book was larger than I expected and the recipes are all doable in a home kitchen..no weird ingredients...clear instructions and easy to follow. I’ve only tried a few, so far, but they were all “keepers”. Excellent book...if you like kefir, you will love this book. These are recipes that use kefir...not instruction for making kefir. Homemade or bought kefir works the same in these recipes. I’m so glad I purchased this book.

Wonder ways in which to use Kefir ...
I like the book overall including the history of the kefir grains and how the family built their business from these grains. The book also has wonderful recipes and I have already made Labneh, Kefir Farmer Cheese and Kefir butter. It's well worth the money especially if you produce more kefir milk than you can consume in one day. I hate to waste food. Very happy with this book and glad I purchased it.

Creative and Simple ways to cook with Kefir
I really enjoyed reading about the authors family and how they were instrumental in the introduction of Kefir to America. I haven't really had time to explore it as much as I would like, but I find the variety of recipes appealing and creative. I have been making Kefir at home for a few years and I like that there are some of my standard go to uses for Kefir that have new twists. I find the recipes easy and yet interesting enough to see that I need to get serious about trying more of the recipes as there are so many ones to choose from. The cook book has something for everyone, whether you are new to enjoying Kefir or a long time fan. I don't think you can go wrong with this little book. I have the kindle edition and like it very much.

Great recipe book, shame about promoting cultures rather than grains
I have been a convert of kefir for over a year now as it’s totally helped my IBS. However I have mostly used kefir in smoothies so really wanted more ideas of ways of incorporating kefir into everyday meals. This book from flicking through does seem to deliver this : love the history of not only kefir grains but the family story. However i have given it 3 stars because I’m really disappointed in the fact that kefir cultures are being used & not the sustainable kefir grains. I wonder why this is , as part of getting this accessible to everyone for the important health contributions it makes is surely more important (or should be) than making money on buying the cultures. I have lost count of the number of kefir grains I have given away since I bought mine. You literally gain so many and it’s all part of the joy of being able to give to others. My only other criticism is that measurements are in “cups” ; why can’t it be grams for the global market? Having said all this a really good recipe book & cant wait to try some dishes.

Good all rounder!
Excellent coverage of a fascinating subject. The history, the recipes, the whole thing is exactly what I've been searching for. The Buckwheat pancakes are delish, try them with cranberries, fresh orange and honey & a sprinkle of toasted nuts! Savoury is good too. Try chilli, cheese, turmeric and cumin- the list is endless !
