As with the previous album, ‘The Children of the Night’, so too with ‘Down Below’. Tribulation has succumbed to change and momentum, but the Swedes didn’t let it become them. They’ve evolved (or are evolving) on ‘Down Below’. The evocative vibe of places frightful and things malign remains strong, as does Tribulation’s roots as an inspired death metal act. What’s changed is the approach and the inspirations affecting the approach. It’s the type of record that will be remembered for decades.

Back on track
I'm enjoying this. The vibe is closer to The Formulas of Death. It doesn't reach the speed of that album's faster parts, but the songwriting is spot on. Better than Children of the Night, which got boring after the third song.

In a scene where everyone is a derivative of everyone and everything else, Tribulation is all at once unique and enthralling. They have built on the magnificence that was 'The Children of the Night' and crafted a perfect follow-up.

Epic Beatiful Darkness
Believe what people are saying about this album. It's the perfect culmination of that Swedish Death Rock with Blackened vocals and Gothic touches that fellow countrymen In Solitude, Ghost, and Dissection helped form and fold, but with a deft touch of sounds from each that few bands could balance. This is a better album than Children of The Night. Epic beautiful darkness.
