Faulty RAM
I installed this in my Lenovo Pavilion 15 laptop in the second empty RAM slot, after taking precautions, not touching any of the electronics and discharging any static electricity etc. The RAM is recognised and bios showed 8 GB, however after a few seconds the system would hang. Even when in the BIOS setup screen. I then removed the RAM module and reinstalled carefully. This time, the system would reset (restart without any blue screen) in around 60 seconds after bootup, even after several tries. I gave up, removed the RAM module, and system is working fine. I contacted both seller and Alketron, both wanted me to courier the item to their local warehouse, who would check the RAM and only if they find defective they would ship me new RAM. I explained that this is not a warranty claim but item outright defective out of the box, and they should refund or replace the item at their cost, but they would not agree. Finally it was Amazon who came to the rescue, their customer service understood the problem and agreed to give a refund (even though the item is non-returnable). I suggest you stay away from this sub-quality item. Manufacturers are taking us for a ride, shipping faulty items under a non-returnable policy and making us do the dance of warranty claim. Rubbish I say, better buy from local store or a seller who gives return policy for such items
