The Best Purchase I've Made in Many Years!!!
We've been putting on an annual crayfish boil for the past 10 years or so. For the first 9 years we rented two burners and two 60 quart pots, but I finally decided to buy some better equipment this year, and I am so glad I did! The rental units were probably 50,000 BTUs at best, and with those it took nearly an hour to bring 40 or so quarts of water to a boil. With this 200,000 BTU CookAmp it took less than 30 minutes, and we were only running it about 75% open. I'll do a test with the gas at 100% when I get a chance and provide an update. Having a powerful burner is essential to a good finished product because you need to be able to return to a boil as quickly as possible after dumping in 25 - 30 pounds of crayfish. I cranked the gas up to 100% and we were boiling again in about 6 minutes, which is very fast. In addition to this burner I had another one which I bought at a local store earlier in the year. It is a jet burner capable of about 190,000 BTUs and the price was about $65 vs. $100 for the CookAmp. The cheaper burner is fine but I would highly recommend spending the extra money for the CookAmp for the following reasons: 1.. The paint on the CookAmp is heat resistant. The appearance will change a bit but it will not burn off like the paint on the majority of other burners, including my cheaper one. When paint burns off it stinks and makes a mess. 2. The CookAmp is very sturdy and substantial, a very high quality product. 3. The wind guard on the CookAmp protects the flame better. In daylight it is hard to see the flame, but you can feel it, so you will know it is on! 4. The CookAmp is quiet. The Jet burner was running right next to it and sounded like the engine of an F-18, which is kind of cool, but I think I prefer less noise and more action. 5. The CookAmp has adjustable airflow so you can fine tune it for maximum output. (I messed with it just a little - it seemed to work perfectly no matter what I did with it.) For such a substantial piece of equipment, $100 is really not bad at all. I'm seriously thinking about getting another one and will probably keep the cheaper Jet burner as a backup. Yes, you can get a decent burner for a little less money, but this one is a huge bargain considering the quality and the price. I was nervous about taking a chance on a product that had not been reviewed yet, but I'm so glad I did!

Works well
High cookingnpressure and works so well. For outdoor use. The gas hose should have been made longer. I highly recommend.

Top-notch burner for the price
Good sturdy platform with quality leg support & design that stays clean and prevents sinking in the ground. Nice wide burning surface with even controllable burn rate. Would recommend this purchase if looking for a new burner.

top notch burner, but not so much regulator
great burner.... .......update.. while the burner is awesome, puts out big heat, the fine adjustment regulator stopped working in an hour.. would not work at all.. had to replace.. Its a china made regulator that simple doesnt work..

Strong flame
I’ve been through three burners and I wish I had started with this one. This has some heft. It came with some minor assembly required but was easy enough to put together. It’s well built and the burner achieves a better flame and quicker temps than any I’ve had in the past. There’s not even a comparison, it’s so far ahead of what I’ve used in the past. Also, there’s no timer on the regulator like the new units you purchase in most places in the US. This is a huge bonus because I’ve had nothing but trouble with the timers. It was a relief not to have to jump to reset a timer to keep the flame from going out all the time. I highly recommend it.
