Love this curriculum
As far as high school science goes for Christian homeschoolers, this is my absolute favorite. We fell in love with the 101 series and this is the 3rd disc we've used. I highly recommend it!

Science Loving boys LOVE this video
Wes Olson is a find! I am a homeschooler of boys age 7 and 10, and I comb the internet for great science materials to teach my boys at home. Elementary science education in America is a joke (I am also a physician...) sniff taste and 5 senses are not going to cut it with my science loving boys. Being a Christian I am also leery of evolutionary propaganda masquerading as science. I had previously purchased Standard Deviants Chemistry which is outdated and geared toward the academically struggling teen who is trying to be cool. If you are a parent of kids who just love science and don't need to pretend to be "cool" (whatever that is because it just looks DUMB) on Standard Deviants, then steer clear. Which brings me to the point. My boys LOVE this chemistry video. So much so they had me buy a second copy to play in the car. He is a Christian and starts with Tubal Cain forging metal. He highlights the scientists lives so that we are inspired by them ( we bought a book about Michael Faraday, 18th century Christian who helped father electricity as we know it because what Olson said interested my guys). He also has great inserted videos such as the melting Gallium spoon in a cup of tea. My boys now tease their physician parents with questions about which radioactive isotope would we prefer... He introduced the mole and stoichiometry in easy to grasp ways. This is amazing. It will also serve as a great intro to high school and early college. I learned things I never knew as well having had college chem and ochem. To sum. BUY IT! And please Mr. Olson quickly make ones on virology microbiology ochem molecular biology. We are eagerly awaiting them. We got your biology series and it was a good overview but the boys want something with protein synthesis animations! Thank you!!!

Wow, I think I understand!!!
I home-school my kids. Although I have a Master's degree in Education, I know nothing about Chemistry, so I was looking for a product that would do all of the teaching for me. This is it.These videos are so full of those "Aha!" moments, that chemistry actually seems interesting. The first three lessons are history/biographies of chemistry. As the quirky historical characters make discoveries about the elements and atoms, so do we. I love that Wes Olson focuses so much on the interesting personalities of the scientists; really brings the science to life that way. He also does experiments that show the concept he's teaching. There is a little bit of intentional humor in the videos. A little. Then there's the ridiculous fades from Olson lecturing in his living room to lecturing in front of a lake scene--kind of silly--but the lectures are interesting, so who cares. My son age 11 and my daughter age 10 are both watching these videos. They can now tell me all kinds of little facts about atoms and the Periodic Table of Elements. Hey, even I now know something about Chemistry!I have watched some Christian videos about science, and have found that they were more evangelistic in focus instead of scientific. But this video is science. Olson mentions scientists' faith--some of them felt that their faith was the basis of their interest in science. But it is not preachy at all. It is teachy. You will learn about Chemistry from these videos.

Good resource for student not planning on going into scientific or related field as well as a good enrichment resource for a curriculum like Exploring Creation with Chemistry.

My 15 year old daughter loves this science! (And that's quite an accomplishment, given that we are more right brained, artsy people). She says the videos are well made, very informative, and interesting. The scene changes keep her attention. It's not just a guy in front of a camera in a room. She's even been doing the experiments on her own and keeping up with her hours of completion on the chart provided. This is a God-send for us! Thank you, Wes Olson. We will be purchasing your Physics curriculum next. And even though this child has already taken biology, I will certainly be purchasing it for my younger ones when they come of age.

Really Great
Update:My 15 year old was required to watch this, though she had already done a separate class on much of the subject matter. She said this DVD series made things she did not understand after her prior course become clear. This is easy watching- and it is so easy to understand the teaching.First Review:Another great production. I appreciate the creationist view that is woven throughout. The easily printable/viewable booklet and quizzes included are great . And the accreditation checklist is a nice guide to have also. Very good value for the cost- my money was well spent on this. I have 2/3 of the series, and hope to add Physics soon!

Easy to understand
Easy to understand! I used this as a supplement to our Chemistry curriculum. I enjoy this dvd as well as Biology 101. Helps simplify concepts for my children. Great for late elementary and middle school. For high school, I highly recommend this as a supplement but I feel it would be insufficient to use as the core curriculum.

VERY GOOD
A very nice way to learn Chemistry! I dreaded doing this subject, but I LOVED doing this program! Wes Olson explains this all really simply and is so good that even my 7 year old brother listened to all the DVDS as well.

Learning Chemistry The Fun Way!
Chemistry 101: An Overview of God's Chemical World As an older student looking to learn this particular subject from scratch, I found this DVD set to be an excellent and very informative product! Lots of fantastic insights into this amazing subject and many more "aha" moments too, making the learning experience far more enjoyable. I am using this DVD set in conjunction with a textbook course called "Chemistry Concepts & Problems, by Clifford C. Houk & Richard Post" because I really did not enjoy secondary school and missed out on this subject. As such, I have decided that in order to completely grasp this subject, I personally needed to go right back to the beginning and build up some basic foundations. The book I am using is good and more in depth but the DVD actually helps to stitch it all together, hence a picture paints a thousand words! The quality of the lessons contained within the DVD are first class! Wes Olsen does a great job here and puts the subject matter into lots of enjoyable and manageable chunks for us all. This DVD is a must for any school, college, students old & young who have never looked at Chemistry previously but want a more gentle and interesting introduction to this amazing subject.
