For some reason, I got very interested in knot-tying a year ago, and I craved some substantial ropes with which to practice my chosen knots, so on a whim I ordered a couple of these because I liked the colors (green and maroon) and I liked the idea of cotton rather than the usual nylon or acrylic. They're perfectly nice ropes, and I had fun tying various knots to the legs of furniture and what have you, but eventually I came to realize that these ropes are really not very useful. Because they're cotton, I don't think they'd endure very long outdoors in the weather, and the colors would likely fade pretty quickly in sunlight; also, even though they're cotton, the ropes aren't especially soft on the skin, so I don't think these would be your best choice if you're thinking in terms of bondage or what have you.

Bought this to do an old fashion kitchen instead of cabinets I hung curtains using this rope really turned out nice.

High quality

The red/orange/yellow stripe rope was thin and flimsy. Very poor quality!!I suspect it was actually made in China.

This is certainly more cotton looking than the last hank I ordered, however be warned it does burn if lit with a match or lighter. 100% untreated Cotton will not burn - it's an old quilters trick to make sure threads and fabrics are all cotton. Anyway a sample from this hank doesn't explode and melt but just slow burns so it's a lot safer than the last hank I purchased which literally exploded and melted.

Not 1/2" dia. as ordered, loose twist, and about 3/8" dia. or slightly thicker
