Just received brain model. Will write a more detailed review later but wanted to point out a few things for the benefit of anyone considering purchasing this item. First, I am not a Dr. I purchased this model to help me understand where the various parts of the brain are located in relation to one another when I read books on the brain for pleasure. I paid $178, ordered the model on 12/10/19 and as a Prime member, received it two days later. It was delivered to my front door by UPS. The model is as it is pictured on Amazon with one major difference/improvement. One of the pictures shows the model disassembled. Posts, which hold some of the pieces together, are clearly visible. This is not the case with the model I received. Instead the pieces are held firmly in place with magnets. In my view this is a great improvement. The pieces come apart easily but hold together very securely.I'll write more after I have had occasion to use the model. Thought the information about the improvement might be of value to anyone thinking of purchasing as a Christmas gift. I will also add that the printing on the model is very easy to read. Thus far I am very pleased with my purchase.

I didn't think the magnets would be a big deal, until I used this every day in our clinic. It's super easy to take apart, and it literally pops right back together without looking. So glad we didn't go with another model with the holes/sticks to put the parts together. The model is very accurate with the color coordination and the dictated regions of the brain. The words look like they were pressed into the model's material, not just written... so that added more value to me because it's not coming off. However, the model's words have a brownish color which can be hard to see for some patients. I'll go over it with a fine sharpie marker, and add my own. Overall, you can't go wrong with this product. It is big! Definitely as advertised.

As a clinical psychologist, I frequently spend time educating others about the components in our brain that are involved in emotional experience and information processing. This model is an excellent visual aid in my work. Dr. Chris (self-proclaimed Geek) Palmeiro has been an excellent resource in helping me maximize use of this model.

I got this as a gift and it was beautiful! The first one I ordered had issues and the magnets didn’t work but I was able to exchange it quickly and now all is well.

The media could not be loaded.  Right to it, the Brain is awesome, coloring, labels, all of it is stellar. However, right after unboxing I immediately had problems with the magnets holding the Brain together. The left hemisphere has a bulge which is preventing the left and right hemisphere magnets from all connecting. If I try to connect the rear magnets then the front magnets have about an inch to two inches of space between them, if I try to connect the front magnets I have the same problem with the back magnets. This issue makes it tricky to handle the Brain as a whole, because it will easily fall apart if the whole things isn’t being held. Also, displaying it on the stand is also challenging as if it’s not sitting just right, it will fall apart. For $200 I would expect zero bulging and a flush connection for all the magnet parts throughout the model. I am in the process of getting a replacement, perhaps my model is just defective. If the new model works as I expect it to then I’ll adjust this review.Update: I got my replacement. After unwrapping it all worked great. I also made great care to make sure it remained in a cool environment, as I suspected the heat may have played a part in the bulging material. Unfortunately, however, after three days the bulge in the left hemisphere showed up and I had the same issue as before, so I am returning this product as well and this time just getting my money back.Look, if the bulging material doesn’t bother you, then this will be an awesome learning tool. But, for the money, I expect quality as well as a good learning experience.
