So we bought this a while ago and finally made the time to try it. My daughter is in her twenties and I am in my forties. Neither one of us had any previous color on our hair, and both of us have very healthy hair. She is of a medium dark brown, and I am a dark brown. This product darkened my daughter's hair and gave her a very lovely grape hue throughout that is visible with or without natural light. On myself, it darkened my hair (bonus!) and gave me hints of grape, especially on my few, sporadic silver strands. It's important to note that anytime I have had my hair professionally dyed or tried to dye it myself back in the '90s (color from Hot Topic), My hair has always had difficulty holding on to color, which is one of the reasons why I stop dying it many years ago. However, this is my first time attempting fantasy hair since I was 15. Anyways, after using this our hair is incredibly soft, shiny, and we are extremely happy with the results thus far. I understand that they make a purple for brown hair now, which is supposed to have twice the amount of pigments, so we will be trying that next! Regardless, we are hooked and very much love it! Side note: It has the consistency of toothpaste, so it very well sticks to hair and doesn't run all over the place. It also smells a little like toothpaste too. Just a refreshing clean minty smell, nothing overwhelming. Treat yourself to this and have a great time. Life is for having fun. 😁

Was initially red and faded to orange. I wash my hair 1-2x per week and the color lasted about 3 weeks. Now my highlights have a slight pink tint to them but I think it will fade more. I will be sure to use a salon strength color remover prior to bleaching hair again.

I’ve used a different color-depositing mask before, but this one really impressed me. It gave my hair a rich, beautiful tone and left it soft and shiny. Just a small note for anyone using it for the first time — when applying, the mask may look a bit greenish in color (even though it’s not green in the jar!). It can also leave a slight tint on the scalp, so I recommend gently washing your scalp with shampoo after rinsing it out. Don’t worry, the hair itself doesn’t turn green at all. Overall, it toned my hair evenly and looks great. Definitely worth it for the price!

I've been using Overtone for years, and have no idea what has happened to the quality lately. Just opened a new tub of the vibrant magenta and it's lighter than the pastel magenta I bought a few weeks ago, and is so far showing almost no color deposit on my hair after 10 minutes. In the past I have covered very fresh salon demi-permanent purple-black with the extreme green and had it look exactly the same as in the tub. Really, really disappointed right now.

I have dark brown/almost black Asian hair that’s natural on top and had been ombre bleached and dyed purple at the bottom. This conditioner worked wonders after my original purple had washed out, and the colour lasted way longer (3+ weeks? and this is without using Overtone’s recommended daily conditioner) than my original dye job did. The immediate colour is quite a vibrant dark purple on my bleached hair, but after about 10 washes starts to fade into a nice lighter purple shade mixed with some brown that starts to show through. On my natural dark hair, the purple appears as a subtle tinge that’s mainly visible under direct light/sunlight. I have mid-length, thin hair so the entire jar lasted me about 4 applications over the course of mid-October to start of Jan. Would recommend to those with lightened/lighter hair as a great way to try out fun colours! Those with totally dark hair, it’ll be a subtle look - plenty of video reviews on youtube will give you an idea of what to expect!
