First, I have the 10 oz size and almost never drink or eat anything while driving. That said, with this size in the city, one can easily sip without a straw when at a light, etc. and it fits nicely in the cupholder. I suppose your question really is directed to whether most drinking straws would fit in the. sipping opening; it seems small to me but a flexible one might fit. If you've had other flip-top cups, perhaps you know what type of straw is likely to fit. The 10 oz size is not a deep cup. It is a great value and I'm glad I bought it.
