Jojo Mayer: Secret Weapons For The Modern Drummer [DVD] [NTSC]

As a drummer of over 40 years I pretty much thought, for my purposes I had got it down with whatever technique I have, after all if it aint broke don't fix it, but I had heard such a lot about this disc I got a copy. What an awesome disc! Jojo Mayer very clearly explains various hand techniques that have puzzled drummers for ever. The camera work is excellent giving close ups of what the sticks, fingers etc are doing in order to play the beat and save energy in to the bargain, as Mayer says getting more for less. If you are serious about drumming and want to improve 100% buy this dvd. Mayer derserves an award from the drumming community for this dvd!

It's so good, you've got to get it. If you are a beginner, the master will show you the way, and if you already play, like me, then this will help to improve your technique. Beautifully filmed, with slow motion shots to illustrate technique, and a laugh or two thrown in. Some hot solos from Jo Jo, but to my way of thinking, done to inspire you, not, as in some videos, to simply show off. Jo Jo talks to you like a really good professional coach to guide you through the techniques, and makes them achievable, and makes you want to get on and practice. I wish I'd had this ages ago.Steve

Jo Jo Mayer,s 'Secret Weapons for the Modern Drummer' is the finest DVD on snare drum technique i have yet encountered. It's excellently produced, played and presented and is ideal for people who can play a bit and want to improve their chops (enhance their hand techniques). I wouldn't recommend it to beginners, though, as most of it is too advanced.

If you want to learn how to drum properly then buy this DVD. JoJo Mayer demonstrates every technique necessary for correct playing in a clear and easily understood manner. Suitable for beginner to advanced, it is beautifully produced and worth every penny. If you only get one DVD on drumming, get this one. You won't be disappointed.
