I bought this Fiskars mower in January 2018, so it is now well into its second season of use. It has proved to be all that I hoped for.In total, I have 160 square metres of lawn – not small, not huge. This mower could easily handle a lot more. I try to keep the grass neat and weed-free, but it is ‘family lawn’, not of bowling green quality.The wide range of available cutting heights a) makes the first cut of the season after a mild winter so much easier and b) enables very late and very early cuts (this past winter, November and February), again to deal with all the grass that grows in the mild winters we get now. Starting high and gradually reducing the height is also useful in late spring/early summer when mowing grass that has been left because primroses, daffodils or bluebells were growing through the grass.I haven’t bought a grass collector for it. Reviews of those suggest they are not very satisfactory. I use a lawn rake to gather the product of the first cut of the year, and all the rest of the time leave the grass to wither and mulch itself back into the lawn.At 20kg, the mower is heavier than most of the competition. Its precision cutting – and width of cut – come with that, and make me think that, with care, it should last a good long time. (Signs of wear and tear after its first full season are negligible.)Pushing it is not notably hard work (so long as you don’t try to cut long grass very short with a single pass), but if you have to carry your mower though the house from back garden to front, or lift it in and out of storage, the weight may mean this mower is not for you.Turning it around at the end of each pass can be awkward. The solution is to organise your work so as to mow as much of the lawn as possible in long straight runs, and to give yourself enough space at the ends to turn the mower without needing to drag it.Last summer, I broke a couple of bones and had a leg in a cast for some weeks. The amazing thing about this Fiskars mower is that family members VOLUNTEERED to mow my lawns for me. Besides being very obliging of them, I put that down to the novelty value of this rather strange-looking (but colourful) beast, and to using it not being particularly hard work. One of them, visiting from Germany, even went home and bought one for himself – straightaway, without waiting for his Bosch electric mower to come to the natural end of its life!He too is well-pleased with his purchase.

I bought this mower around two years ago and have been waiting to review it once it had really been put through its paces. As it is fairly expensive, I was quite apprehensive about getting it, but thought it was worth the gamble. We have had trouble with electric mowers in the past, breaking-down or underperforming, even though we only have a ropey little patch of grass. The rotary mower doesn't really need any maintenance and it does the job fine - which is all we were looking for! It has gotten jammed once in the last two years, as a stone knocked the blades out of alignment. This was tough, as I didn't have the strength or skill to re-adjust them! So we had to take the mower to a local shop to get adjusted, but it only cost around ten pounds to get done and took less than thirty minutes. As other people have commented here - the mower will not cut "meadow grass," a thicker type of grass and weeds and plants. This means your lawn will never look neat and green and even the way it would with a electric or petrol mower. You will probably have to go around and chop down the long strands now and again too but this is not a big priority for me. We never use our garden so we only wanted something to stop the grass getting too high so that we met the bare minimum of social norms imposed by our neighbours! If you're a keen gardener and very proud of your garden then you will need to go over the lawn regularly de-weeding and strumming. Maybe about once or twice a month? I haven't really bothered to do it except maybe once or twice a year! As far as normal grass goes, the mower can cut down pretty long grass so you can leave the moving for weeks and weeks at a time. Which is great if you're not into gardening! The mower is not that heavy, as many people have suggested. I am an average woman, with pretty poor upper body strength, and I find it's about as heavy as a normal mower, maybe even lighter! I honestly have no clue what most people are complaining about here when they say it's really hard to push! If your garden is on a slope, then you will need to mow down the slope and not up because that can be hard, but other than that you'll never be really straining. You also need to go over each bit of grass a couple of times so you may need to circle over yourself or pull the mower back and then push forward again. I find that it can take quite a while to mow the whole lawn as you are doing one strip at a time like this, but not much longer than it used to take with an electric mower. Also - it is very quiet! It barely makes any noise at all, which is a huge plus for me as I hated using a noisy mower. Personally, I wouldn't ever go back to an electric mower, and I don't think you need one. But if you want to have a perfect lawn then you will need to use other tools or put a little more work in and that might not be for you.

This is an excellent mower if a bit expensive for something without a motor. Saying that, it cuts my 1/3 acre of pretty rough grass with far less grief than dragging out the petroleum mower. It is also amazingly quiet. The only short comings I have found so far are that it is quite heavy and the height adjustment is fairly coarse. A half setting between the lowest and the next one up would be nice. On the whole I am very satisfied.

Rapidement, voici mon histoire. Comme tout le monde, j'ai eu des tondeuses thermiques. Résultat, c'est cher, c'est bruyant, ça pue et ça tombe en panne tout le temps. Ensuite, j'en eu marre et je suis passé à l'électrique filaire. C'est mieux, moins bruyant, et moins d'entretien, MAIS le fil c'est vraiment pénible, et les tondeuses ont tendance à fatiguer sur de l'herbe un peu haute et mouillée (comme c'est souvent le cas en Bretagne où je me trouve), donc elle bourre (même avec un sac de ramassage) et on s'arrête sans arrêt pour enlever l'herbe bloquée à la sortie de l'extracteur. Enfin, et non des moindres, ça revient super cher, parce que quand vous tondez pendant 2h30 avec une machine de 1800W, je vous laisse faire le calcul au niveau du compteur...Bref, quand ma dernière tondeuse électrique est tombée inévitablement en rade, je me suis dit, OK je passe à la tondeuse électrique à batterie. Et là, quand j'ai vu les prix affichés, j'ai failli m'évanouir. Un vendeur de matériel de jardin honnête près de chez moi m'a parlé objectivement de ce genre d'engin. En gros, ça marche, mais c'est comme pour les voitures électriques d'aujourd'hui, il va vous falloir trois jours au lieu de 2h pour tondre votre jardin, car il faudra recharger les accus. Et si l'idée vous vient de vouloir en acheter une deuxième ou une troisième pour faire le relais, allez voir combien ça coûte, et vous ferez comme moi, une petite prière à Sainte Rita, patronne des cas désespérés...Du coup, je me suis intéressé aux tondeuses manuelles que j'avais déjà en tête depuis plusieurs années. Le choix n'est pas énorme, mais les modèles proposés semblent satisfaire les utilisateurs dans l'ensemble. J'ai hésité parce que j'avais l'impression que j'allais devoir faire du triathlon chaque fois que j'irais tondre. Et puis, en regardant quelques vidéos, je me suis aperçu que ça n'avait pas l'air si difficile.Au départ, je voulais en prendre une à un prix intermédiaire juste pour essayer et ne pas dépenser trop d'argent au cas où ça ne fonctionnerait pas comme prévu. Mais en réfléchissant devant les caractéristiques et les avis très positifs du modèle FISKARS, j'ai finalement opté pour ce choix et franchement, je ne le regrette pas.Ce truc est assez incroyable. Monté en 5 minutes (il faut juste assembler le manche), j'ai mis deux fois moins de temps pour tondre mes 650m2 ! C'est un peu plus sport, c'est sûr, qu'avec une tondeuse tractée, mais c'est vrai que mon gazon était un peu haut pour cette première fois et comme je n'avais pas l'intention de faire deux passages et que je voulais tester la bête, j'ai réglé la hauteur assez bas. Le résultat fut bluffant. Ça coupe tout seul et on a l'impression de passer une tondeuse à cheveux sur un crâne.Question entretien et rangement, c'est TOP. Y en a pas partout comme sur les autres tondeuses électriques ou thermiques. Un petit coup de balayette et c'est propre. Le manche se rabat horizontalement et vous pouvez la ranger dans l'abri sans prendre trop de place.Pour le bruit, n'en parlons pas, y en a pas, vous pouvez tondre n'importe quand, ce qui est un sérieux ++++++ :-)Ce qui est étonnant, c'est qu'on retrouve le plaisir de tondre alors que pour moi, c'était toujours une corvée. Avec ce genre d'engin, sauf si vous voulez faire du sport (et la tondeuse ne peinera pas pour autant), une passe toutes les semaines sera idéale. Pour la motivation, c'est très simple : emmenez votre FISKARS faire une petite ballade ! Comme j'ai un métier sédentaire, c'est maintenant pour moi l'occasion de prendre l'air sans devenir sourd...Donc, verdict : c'est pratique, c'est facile, c'est économique, c'est costaux, c'est allemand ;-)un seul petit bémol cependant : je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais ça ne coupe pas les tiges de pissenlit et autres mauvaises herbes de ce genre. Bon, vu le temps que je gagne à chaque fois, ce n'est pas trop grave, juste étonnant...⚠️ Rectification d'avis au 6 mai 2024 : après seulement 5 ou 6 utilisations, le capot de protection de la chaine de transmission a cassé net sans choc particulier. Je précise que je prends soin de mes affaires et qu'une telle casse ne peut résulter que d'une faiblesse de fabrication (d'ailleurs, je crois avoir vu un autre commentaire sur ce même point). Rien à redire sur le reste et je conserve ma satisfaction, mais le bon sens voudrait que pour un appareil de ce prix, cette pièce devrait être en fer et non en plastique. Les produits allemands perdraient-ils leur réputation de solidité? Je vais écrire au constructeur pour lui faire part du dommage et demander un remplacement de pièce. Une étoile en moins du coup...⚠️ Rectification au 27 mai : j'ai donc contacté le service clientèle de Fiskars par email et ai reçu une réponse rapide ainsi qu'une solution de remplacement commerciale après leur avoir envoyé la facture prouvant l'achat. Quelques jours plus tard, j'ai reçu un nouveau carter tout neuf, donc bravo à la marque, et pour ce geste, je rajoute donc l'étoile supprimée.

Costa un po', ma fa bene quel che deve. Di positivo che non mi aspettavo ci sono dei dettagli (due fermi in plastica, ma efficaci e robusti) che impediscono al cestino di oscillare e staccarsi (come ha fatto notare qualcuno in altri commenti).Si riesce a regolare a seconda dell'altezza di taglio.Capiente abbastanza per farci 100mq di taglio senza svuotare.Quello che non è bello, ma non dipende dal cestino, quanto piuttosto da come è concepito il sistema tagliaerba+cestino, è che tende a ingombrare davanti e se ci sono ostacoli come muretti, piante o altro, impedisce di tagliare l'erba frontalmente fino a ridosso. Per risolvere, di solito basta prendere il problema di lato, ma dove si ha un angolo convergente il problema non ha soluzione.
