A great sounding Dulcimer at a great price
A great sounding dulcimer. I was expecting some cheaply made product, but the construction of the dulcimer is above average, it tunes easily ans stays in tune. The top and back could have been a bit thicker, but all in all, this is a great dulcimer. Sounds rich and vibrant, just the way a good dulcimer should sound.

Solid instrument, outstanding value
This is a remarkably fine instrument at a very appealing price point. It was easy to tune and played great five minutes out of the box. Be sure to use a chromatic tuner, as a standard guitar tuner probably won't work.

Cracked upon opening
I didn’t even get it out of the box and noticed it was cracked about 6 inches

Nice tone.
Did require new strings immediately which seemed strange if there were new strings on it originally. Before I restrung it, the lower bridge kept sliding off center of the fretboard. After stringing, the bridge problem was fixed and the tone was great. I am using it consistently now for my dulcimer group jams and gigs. I wish it had the option to have a 1 1/2 fret added.

Our dulcimer came faster than the expected delivery time! The pictures were nice but to see this instrument in hand is beautiful! Thank you for getting this to us! Our family is a musical family and everyone was so pleased with this instrument! We give it five stars!

Do NOT buy this!!!
This product looks nice and sounds nice. It should be a 5 star product but it isn't. The top seems to be made of very cheap material. The top of the body is almost paper thin. I actually put a 1 inch crack in the body by one of the F holes with my thumb. I was holding the instrument with my one hand while holding open the box to put it back in. Just the pressure of my thumb caused the wood to crack. I had it less then 48 hours. It still plays nice so I did not return it but I cannot recommend it to anyone else. There is another review on here that has a crack by the F hole as well. I would guess it happens to a lot of people. For the price, I expect the wood to be a little thicker and certainly more durable. I like to play it but I am so careful with it now that is takes away some of the enjoyment. I am waiting for it to break permanently. If you buy it and are VERY careful with it you will be pleased how it sounds. I would not recommend this for children.

Important Information about Strings
I've had this dulcimer for nearly a year now, and it's an excellent dulcimer for the money. I've struggled with getting good tone consistently, and just found out that the strings were most likely set too high. I recently had my strings changed by a professional (someone who works primarily on violins and guitars) and asked him to lower the strings. (I'm not sure how he did it, maybe adjusted the bridge.) I can't believe the difference! Before, I had to be spot on with my fingers to get a true note, now not so much. You should be able to slip a dime under the first fret, all the way to the left, and a nickel under the seventh fret, without it falling out. I wish I had known this before, because it makes all the difference in the world. And, by the way, you need to change your strings every two to three months, depending on how often you play. I wish I had known this earlier too. If you're a newbie, these things are important to know.

It's a good dulcimer, one small flaw
Unpacked the dulcimer and noticed right away that there was a small crack in the top right at one of the f-holes. I tuned and started playing it right away, and I don't think the crack affects the tone, but I plan to be extra careful when playing or carrying it. The spruce top is pretty flimsy, so be careful if you get one.

Well built dulcimer
I really am having fun with this instrument. My partner ex-musician thinks it is well made and has a great sound. It goes out of tune often but my partner uses a tuning fork to get it tuned again. He said it's fairly typical with a new string instrument as the strings stretch in the beginning I guess until they are broken in. I am a newbie to playing a string instrument. I took instrumental music in grade nine and played the oboe albeit not too well...to put it in perspective I am 70 years old and I took the class way back in grade nine around the same time that The British Invasion stormed the shores of North America aka The Beatles, the Animals, the Rolling Stones (you get the picture). Anyway as I said I am having a lot of fun and there are an abundance of Dulcimer song books out there on Amazon and a myriad of utube demonstrations and Google Play store apps...so a wealth of learning resources are available. I would recommend this dulcimer to friends and families. It also comes with a pick and a noter (although I need to learn how to use the noter).
