This is an outstanding pieceof work and you are encouraged to buy a copy and learn thefascinating history of the area and to explore the Mystic Riveritself at different times of the year, preferably by Canoe orKayak. You will not be disappointed!

A great, illustrated historical travelogue of Medford's Mystic River and environs

This book is an almost encyclopedic look at the Mystic River, its natural history, its recreational opportunities (where precisely to fish, put in your kayak, etc), and the history of the surrounding towns. Where I think it falls down a bit is in its small numbers of maps - given the very specific location references within the text, this book would greatly benefit from lots and lots of maps.
