a must for Potter fans everywhere
a must for Potter fans everywhere, 100+ pages of interesting (if you're an interested muggle like me!) and amusing 'facts' and anecdotal comments about all the creatures you'll have heard of in the books and seen in the films plus lots, lots more.It includes scribbles and notations by Harry, Ron and Hermione which add to the fun of it and is kicked off with an introduction by Albus Dumbledore penned in his own inimitable styleproduced to benefit Comic Relief with no compromise of the creative and colourfully descriptive writings of JKR, this is a great accompaniment to the harry potter collection of books - JKR is a literary legend of our time I say.

Good for fans!
I bought this for my son as he was mad on all the Harry Potter books and films and he had shown interest in this book.Personally, when I trawled though it, I thought it looked as dull as dishwater but my son enjoyed it. He said that he like that it was kind of like a dictionary or diary style rather than a book of the movie. If he enjoyed it, then that’s good enough for me.Fans of HP and the movie will undoubtably enjoy this.

Exceptionally well written
Well done Newt Scamander! This book contains all the intricate details of a muggle encyclopedia, with a concise introduction to beasts that gives you a brief history of beasts, and some information as to what animals are classed specifically as 'beasts'. Following this introduction is an A-Z of beasts - many that have appeared countless times in the 'Harry potter' series. It is clearly set out, and will amuse both young witches, wizards and muggles as well as the older generations! This book is excellent for an avid reader wanting to stay immersed in the wonderful world of Harry Potter. The scribblings in the pages by Ron, Harry and Hermione make the read hilarious - a recommended buy!

Great book for Harry Potter fans... A must buy
I bought this and I had very low expectations for this particular book. In my opinion I thought this book was going to be a dreadful, boring read but has actually turned into a exciting experience. This book offers an insight to Harry's world and to all of the creatures part of the wizard community. I am also very pleased to hear that JKRowling has plans to turn this book into a triology of films with David Yates behind the production. (He directed the last four Harry potter films) . In conclusion I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the Harry potter collection and who wants to know more about the magical world. A must buy...

A tad on the boring side!
The introduction was a bit long winded but somewhat necessary for the book. It goes into great detail of the definition of a beast and the disputes of what should be classed as a beast or what should not. Some that should have been classed as "beings" have requested to be known as beasts due to not agreeing to the classification. The rest of the book reads a bit like an encyclopaedia listing all of the beasts in alphabetical order with a brief description of what they are, where they can be found and the danger of them.It also tells which beasts are known by muggles through fairy tales and which are only known in the wizarding world.I'm amazed that Rowling has been able to extend the magical world of Harry Potter so vastly, even going to the extent of explaining the beasts. To me it was some what boring. It read too much like a textbook, which is what it was supposed to be, but it didn't interest me. The footnotes and handwritten notes by Harry, Ron and Hermione were interesting though.I guess for any diehard Harry Potter fan this would be almost a must read.

Harry Potter Fantastic Beasts
Fun book with annotation by Harry and his friends. Easy to read for 8 years plus but with some tricky Potter words to challenge them! It's written as a sort of dictionary of the beasts and beings (from 3 headed monsters to fairies) that appear in the Harry Potter books so not a story in any way. Ideal for children who are really enjoying the series of books and would find anything related to HP interesting to read.Great value on Amazon and in aid of Comic Relief....you can't lose with this one!
