A fashionable and functional apron! Game on!
This review is for the Hedley & Bennett Waxman Apron in the beautiful Atlantic (blue) color. It's my first waxed canvas apron, and after using it in our kitchen for a month, I can't look at our basic cotton aprons the same way anymore. The details on this apron are exquisite: soft leather straps, brass hardware, good-sized pockets, and a functional utility loop for hanging things like tongs. Previously, I considered aprons purely functional. However, with its flattering cut, the Hedley & Bennett is, dare I say, fashionable. The only negatives, in my opinion, are the objectively high price and the initial out-of-the-box presentation. With a suggested price of $130, it's several times more expensive than standard cotton and waxed canvas aprons from professional kitchen suppliers. Hence, it's disappointing that it comes tightly folded in a plastic bag, and when you open it up for the first time, it looks rumpled. The Hedley & Bennett is better than our current apron in terms of comfort, fit, and function, but we only use aprons for perhaps an hour or two every day for cooking and washing, so I'm not really sure it makes sense. But at the end of the day, it doesn't need to make sense as long as it makes you feel good. I can totally see the mentality of getting ready for "game day" by putting on the "good" apron, and I can get behind that.Notes:1) I'm 6'2", and it fits me perfectly.2) As a waxed canvas apron, it is absolutely NOT MACHINE WASHABLE. It's spot-clean only, and you may need to reapply canvas wax occasionally to keep it performing its best.

Durable and good stitching
Always wanted a good canvas shop apron and here it is! The size is large enough for a good wrap around me without interfering with movement and the canvas is super durable and feels great to the touch. Stitching is great and it should last me a good long time. I especially like the neck strap comfort!

Very expensive. I'm still not sure why.
This is a really nice apron. It has an adjustable leather strap which has a lot of play in it, so you can adjust the length quite a bit. The canvas is quite stiff, which I'm sure will loosen up with wear. It has two good size pockets. I took one star away because although it's a really nice apron, I can't imagine a reason that justifies the $130 price.

Well-Made
I've been drooling over Hedley & Bennett aprons for years, and this absolutely did not disappoint. It's made from a thick, waxed canvas, so it will be more resistant to stains, and it will protect clothing well. The neck strap is leather and very soft leather, so it's comfortable as well as attractive. Keep in mind that this is a good-sized apron. We got it for my husband who is 6'4" and it works well on him. I'm 5'4" and it falls past my knees. It will work on both of us, but it's definitely better suited for someone taller than me.

Neck strap needs improvement
I like this apron a lot. The heavily waxed material takes some time to. Real in and to get used to, but this is well made and should last the average cook or garage/workshop dweller a long time. Since I am shorter in stature I would recommend a size label of Medium to XL. It is too long for a shorter person and the neck strap doesn’t have enough adjustment to get the apron chest piece up to the top of your chest below your neck. Recommended
