I bought these socks for a Caribbean vacation to provide a buffer layer between my water shoes and my skin. On a previous trip, the sand had gotten inside the shoes and felt like sandpaper as I was exploring some dune trails behind the beach. After wearing them for a week, I can confirm that they are not waterproof at all. That's not of concern to me because who cares about waterproofing on a beach. However, they're are not "ultra thin" either. They are as thick as normal socks and made of a strange fabric that isn't exactly uncomfortable but does feel weird and rubbery. In the end, I'm still giving 3 stars because they did (barely) fit inside the water shoes and did protect me from getting scraped up by sand particles. I would still like to find a legitimately thin pair of water socks, though.

Nothing worse than wet cold feet. I wore these in on a boat where my feet had a high probability of getting wet. Day 2 it rained all day and there was no way to avoid getting wet. My shoes were soaked but my feet were dry. I continued to wear these in my wet shoes for the next few days. My shoes dried out and my feet remained dry and warm These are very good quality Putting them on can get tricky as the waterproof properties tend to make them hold air for a short time. Taking them off can also take a bit of extra effort. I wear size 10.5 shoes and these fit perfectly They are pricey, but well worth it.

I bought these for the most recent Spartan race and they did an excellent job wicking most of the moisture out while still being comfortable after trudging through mud and water. My feet still looked like they were soaked in water for a "minute", but it kept friction out vs a regular cotton sock.

I was worried these XS socks would be too big, but they are just small enough. If they were any bigger they would be too big. (In regular shoes, I’m size 6, running shoes or boots I’m size 7, sometimes in dress shoes I’ll be as low as 5.5. If your feet are smaller than mine, I’d recommend going down to the children’s version that this company sells.) I have always lived places where it either does not rain much or doesn’t rain hard, so I’ve never thought it was a big deal to just run with regular gear and maybe throw a rain shell over top. Every once in along while there would be a big storm and I’d get soaked to the bone, but no big deal. However, now I’m somewhere where when it rains it really rains and if I run in the rain, I’m going to get soaked. So, I’ve done that a bunch of times this year and done with it. I can’t wait to try these out on a run. Just testing them out so far, I can tell they won’t breathe well, but if they did, I’d be worried about their rainproof-ness LOL. If I have a choice between hot feet or soaked and freezing feet, I’d take the former. I’m a trail runner, so can’t wait to go splashing through puddles! If the socks do not live up to my expectations, I’ll update the review. By the way, I’m very picky with sock seams and not getting blisters, especially when it comes to running, and I think these seem like they’re going to be comfortable in that way. They are more bulky than my regular running socks, but I wear the ultrathin socks without padded toes or heels. I would say that the thickness is on par or thinner than the running socks I’ve tried on that have are padded. I tried these on with my running shoes and the shoes are more snug, but not to the point of needing to go up to the next shoe size or squishing my toes or feet. I chose these socks over a shorter pair of waterproof socks (both brands recommended by a runners world article) just because the shorter ones will not stop rain from going down inside the sock. These are waterproof and snug over the ankle, so I’m confident they will be great. I also love the bright yellow color for street running to make me more visible. Sorry for the ramble - I’m just really excited to try these out and wanted to make sure I addressed all of the comments other people have made and the questions I had before i bought them :)

These are absolutely not waterproof. They function more like a wetsuit for your feet. They keep your feet a little warmer than they would be with regular socks. They are, however, comfortable and they keep all sand and sediment out of my toes!! Great to wear with Astrals for watersports too! They are super durable unless you plan to walk around a concrete whitewater park because you lost your shoe in the river course. LOL.
