Dog gone amazing
This is by far the easiest way to work with your dog in a compassionate way. I’m not gonna lie. I made sure to zap myself before I ever put it on the animal and I was able to take it up to five. I got my attention pretty good. By the end of the first two weeks, I only had to use the Audible to get my dog’s attention. I don’t even charge it anymore keeps her in the yard. We don’t even have an invisible fence. It’s also a great tool for holidays and those situations in which your house gets full of more energy and dog has a tendency to get alittle too rambunctious.

Good trainer
Our first two Goldens just needed brief corrections to stop behavioral problems; a few corrections and the collar was no longer needed - the third (our current) Golden is virtually untrainable and after 3 years the original collar wouldn't hold a charge. Unfortunately we need the collar on our current Golden just to gain some degree of control in the yard and when we're out for walks. The collar works and has good range - it's just ineffective on this current Golden.

Great for training and long distance.
We love using for the Beach. Let's dogs run and feel free, but can be recalled when to far away to hear with ocean noise.

Good tool, I wish they offered more variety of this collar
I do like this collar a lot. I wish it had a sound volume control option and was a bit cheaper for the distance. However, for what I use it for, it works very well.Efficacy:I actually use only the sound option and my dog responds very well to it. I use it as a recall device mostly. When she barks across the property, I don't feel like walking all the way over to her to get her to stop but once she hears that beep, she stops immediately and returns to the house porch. She "frenzy barks" so it's hard to get through her mania once shes started. I'll be yelling at her and she wont stop until I've yelled 3-5 times. One beep from this and her ears go down and she comes to the porch very quickly. If she's in a super frenzy, it might take 2 beeps. She is half staffy, half hound so very stubborn barker with a deep, bellowing voice. She has a very slight bay-ish sound. The fact that this collar stops her within 1 beep 95% of the time, is kind of amazing. However, to be accurate of the collar, I will also say that my dog is very well trained. Her only problems are barking and a little nervousness/protectiveness. To give context, she was out with me the other day and some random lady came to our yard. This dog started barking very ferociously as soon as she heard the ladies voice. On one very strong "SIT" from me, her butt was planted and all barking ceased. A very quick response from her but if I had thought to bring the collar remote with me outside, it would have been much faster and less straining on my vocal chords. :PI also use it while out riding my horse. My dog is very good at sticking with me, a little too good as she has gotten almost stepped on many times, but in case we come across another dog, people, or horses, I want her to come to me immediately, plant her butt, and wait without having to yell, just in case the people or dogs or horses aren't friendly. This collar accomplishes that. She can get very protective toward people and too friendly towards dogs but a quick beep from this reminds her to let her mom do the talking. This is great because I can correct her and most people don't hear the beep so it makes my dog look even more well trained than she is! It's also helpful for when cars are going by. I can recall her to the horse and wait for the danger to pass.Range:Our house sits on 2 acres with 1 acre around the house fenced in for the dogs and the other acre for the horses. Both acres are almost perfectly square. With no walls in the way, I can stand on one end of the property and the beep will work *almost* to the other edge of the property(across 2 square acres, just shy of it by about 20 feet. While I'm inside, I can usually beep her successfully if she is barking in the dogs yard. Sometimes, I stand up and go to the nearby window after I've beeped her. She has usually stopped by then and our other dog is still barking so I like to make sure its not her. For some reason, our neighbor only cares about her bark, not the other dog.Battery life:So far, so good. I charge the collar about once a week and it is turned on from about 7am to 7pm everyday. The remote I have only charged once since purchasing it 2 months ago and that wasn't because the battery was low, it was just because my roommate was being nice and charging my stuff for me.Overall, I wish this company offered a cheaper option with just sound correction and longer reach. I've never once had to use the shock on her but I did try the vibrate once. She ignored it completely. I have not yet tried it at the beach with water but I will report back once I have done so. I do think this would be great for many different dogs, if you train them properly with the shock(if necessary) and ween them down to the beep. If it can break through my pit-hound's crazy barking frenzy, it can break through anything(with the right training)!

Look Elsewhere!
This is the second PetSafe collar I have bought for my German Shepherd that is around 80Lbs. He is a year and a half old and after moving into a new house without a fenced yard or invisible fence yet, thought it would be good training. The first PetSafe collar I had was the Elite. The only reason I am on to my second is because I misplaced the first one, and later found it under the dog blanket in my car. I loved the first version of this collar I had prior, but after buying the updated newer version I gave the older one to a family member for her golden retriever. When I bought this one in October of 2017 I thought it looked sleek and less bulky than the prior version. When I opened the packaging, the collar felt cheap. I figured it was a good brand, so I’m sure it would hold up and prove me wrong. The prongs did seem a little smaller, and my dog has thick fur around his neck, the shock option didn’t seem to really do anything unless it was at the highest setting and even that was a light shock. He’s a smart dog, and shocking is never my first option and I hardly ever had to shock him. The warning beeps seemed to work best for him anyway. In June I went to unplug the collar from the charger and noticed that the small black portion on the charger had cracked and broke off. Leaving the small metal prong like pieces exposed. I tried to get the black piece out and see if I could reattach it somehow, but it was lodged inside the collar charging spot. It still managed to hold a charge, but I had to carefully hold the charger and make sure it didn’t move at all. If it moved it would fall right out. Also, the little rubber covers that are supposed to cover the charging spots on the collar and remote never stay on. They break right off, So I wouldn’t trust this for being waterproof, if you have a dog that loves the water. Anyway, Fast forward to a month later and the collar got warm and is now completely fried. I haven’t even had this collar a year!! I stuck with the PetSafe brand because the reviews were good, it had the range I wanted, and the prior collar was made a lot better. This was very cheaply made for the cost of this collar and I’m very disappointed!!! I would have purchased the protection plan, but prior reviews said it wasn’t worth it and stuff like this wouldn’t be covered anyway. So, I am now on my third collar and decided to do away with PetSafe. I’m trying the PetPat collar. It feels like it’s made a lot better, and though it may not have the highest range I wanted, So far, it’s wonderful. It even has a vibration setting and the rubber coverings on the charging spots are thicker and almost suction on, made to keep water out. And best part, it was only $50!! So, in conclusion, if you want to spend a lot of money on a poorly made collar, this is for you. I wish I never would have bought this collar, such a waste of money!!

Good Training Tool
Work great - my pup has been trained and now just listens to the beep and doesn’t require a shock! Super easy to use, beep is loud enough, and the remote has been dropped multiple times but is still intact!

Easy to use and not too bulky
Easy to adjust the shock level once the lock is off. I’ve had many E collars over the years for my dogs under the supervision of a trainer and the remote for the Petsafe collar is an excellent fit for my hand since it’s not too large to carry around . I’m using the collar on a medium size Fox hound and it doesn’t appear to be too bulky on her neck. Not using it for field work but it’s great for off leash beach and park play. Will purchase again
