Brilliant for the beginning enthusiast

Bought as a present for an enthusiast.

I have several traditional clocks and not knowing much about them, decided to send away for this particular book.It is a very basic introduction to clock repair. It is not intended as a comprehensive guide to repairing a clock but a nice introduction and explanation of how clocks work. You can get a basic grounding as to how to embark on a satisfying hobby of repairing clocks. Other more comprehensive books will be required in addition to this book.

This book is very informative for any hobbyist to read. If you want to attempt to work on any clock or watch this is a must have book. After reading it I found the courage to disassemble, clean and find out what was wrong with my wall clock and alarm clock. It was great reading and good to own for furture reference.

un peu intéressant mais sans plus. L'explication des divers echappemements est correcte et assez bien faite . J'attendais plus de détails.

木で歯車から時計を作る趣味で１時に１回、２時に２回・・・・・１２時に１２回鐘を打つ機構が知りたくて購入。数種類のラック＆スネイル式の機構が図で説明されていて解り易かった。図を元にＣＡＤで図面を起こしてムーブメントも含め全部木製歯車の柱時計が完成しました＾＾

I could not find anyone that could fix my 1949 Clock. It was bought for me as a baby and I really like it but it has quit working and the guy that kept it going has gone home to meet his maker. So I saw this book and thought why not try to fix it myself. I will let you all know if it gives me enough knowledge to do just that. So far it has helped me know exactly how it works.
