Excellent all-purpose knife
This knife is a one-stop shop for all amateur cooking needs. I purchased a very similar knife from Bed Bath and Beyond about 10 years ago for about $25. It was my go-to knife for all prep. Unlike other serrated "bread knives," this one works for all types of slicing because the serrations are not as pointy. It works on all veggies and is often more secure than a chef's knife because it bites into the food quickly. Works on soft tomatoes and never slips. After several years, I started honing the knife (using a serrated-knife sharpener) every several uses and it remained super sharp and effective. Another advantage is that it doesn't tend to cut unless you're using a slicing motion, which can be a protective feature for fingers. For no particular reason I decided to replace the knife (it's still sharp) and they didn't sell the same one, but this is the most similar. Initial experiences are just as good. The one thing you can't do with a slicer is rapidly cut up and down like a pro with a chef's knife, but most amateurs wouldn't risk that anyway. For such a good price, and such longevity, this knife is a best buy.

Well Made and Durable, Razor Sharp
I recently bought the Henckels Forged Premio Knife Set but it was missing a couple knives I wanted, namely a serrated bread knife and a non-serrated utility knife. What a fantastic knife! I can't say enough good things about it! For years I used a cheap set of kitchen knives because I just didn't want to spend the money on a decent set. After using these, I wish I had taken the plunge sooner. They make prep work a joy!Henckels makes a few less expensive sets but they're not forged, which was a deal breaker for me. This was the least expensive set of forged knives that I could find, and they did not disappoint. They are just the right weight and feel solid in my hands. They are razor sharp too, I've never cut with anything like them. Plus, they're dishwasher safe.Highly recommended!

A Joy to Use!!!
Really! I was hesitant to purchase this because it was inexpensive, but I’m so glad I did. My husband and I both describe it as “A JOY to use!”. I have much more expensive knives that are very nice. But this - noticeably better every time we use it. Highly recommend!

A Must Have
Love the entire product line (owned over 35 years) and this is no exception. Have consistently used this over the past year+ and its sharpness and accuracy in cutting bread is unmatched. The blade length is perfect for a loaf of bread and sawing back and forth makes even cutting through hard sourdough crusted bread a breeze. And the weight balance between handle and blade is perfect. Worth the money as this will be the only bread knife needed.

Great knife
My wife has long been making her own breads. We've gone through so many bread knives, but none were all that great. Reading an issue of Consumer Reports they listed this as a great choice so we figured why not. Well, whether its her crusty bread or very soft bread it cuts through it with no effort, minimal crumbs and can cut them almost potato chip thin.We are really shocked at how great this knife is. It has a full tang, very sturdy with a nice weight to it. If we ever need another one we'll get the same one again.

Excellent and extremely sharp!
Extremely sharp and does an excellent job of cutting bread or whatever you need.I thought I would use it for cutting vegetables but find that I tend to use my new Henckels 5" blade instead for that.Highly recommend!

nicely weighted value for money knives
I have been reviewing the Henckel’s knives the last few days as I sorted out our needs here in the kitchen. The Premio line is really the best value for money in a non-pro kitchen. They are a sturdy, nicely weighted, ergonomically-made style of kitchen knives. This particular bread knife I had exchanged for a more “economy” version I originally purchased, and I made the right decision…it’s ultra sharp. I am not afraid of it slipping off a crusty bread. And it now completes my set of what will be frequently used knives in our busy home kitchen
