The incredible photos of Francis Wolff have been spoiled by the poor design of this book. The book is a long portrait format yet the photos are mostly printed large and square and spread across the crease. The book should have been published in square format to match the image format so they could be printed clearly on one page. A very disappointing publication. I have given it 3 stars only because because of the amazing photographs of Francis Wolff but the publishers should bow their heads in shame.

A brilliant series of photos bringing back the music of the Blue Note collection. One or two confused labels but this is a very minor criticism of a classic publication. Buy it now!

Absolutely stunning photos that capture the musicians in all their glory. I own quite a few. 'Rock/music photography' books and while I'm not a Jazz fan, the photos in Blue Note are truly inspiring and has already influenced my own work.

Photo's are fantastic....they really capture the mood and moments of that era. A must for serious collectors.

A substantial volume for the money, with adequate reproduction of the photographs.However appreciation of these is rather spoilt by the practice of spreading the prints across the centrefold, which means that they cannot beviewed in one plane. Presumably this was done to thwart unauthorised scanning.Also there are some inexcusable errors in the text, for example 'Bobby Hutchinson' instead of 'Hutcherson', and reference to an Eric Dolphyrecording some twelve years before it took place.I am surprised that Michael Cuscuna put his name to this book.
