I am very pleased with this Dimplex SP16 2 KW Wall Mounted Electric Fire.
We chose this particular electric fire, mainly for the flame effect, which is quite realistic, and also makes you feel warmer, just by looking at it.The remote control works very well, once you get used to the way it works. The various configurations that you can set, enable you to programme the way it works, and this can be momentarily seen on the fire's display, including the current room temperature.Men don't waste time reading such instructions, and much prefer the excitement of pushing all of the buttons, in a random orders, until we get the desired result. :o)That said, it is important to read the mounting instructions, and plan the way that you intend to mount it, to avoid any problems. At 182mm, the frame his quite deep, if you surface mount it.Due to the 35.6 Kg weight, I chose to cut the plasterboard back, and mount it on the internal breezeblock wall. This reduces the amount that it stands out from the surface of the wall; in my case by ~40mm. It would look much less intrusive, if you can fully recess it into the wall, which unfortunately, wasn't possible for me, without fitting a support lintel. Maybe I will get around to doing that, some day, after I have finished working through the list of other DIY jobs that I have, now that I'm retired. :o(It is important that you make sure that whatever surface you mount it on, is as flat as possible, as it will affect the fitting of the detachable bezel surround, which at the bottom edge, is held in place by magnets that are not particularly strong.WARNING: Mounting this fire is definitely a two person job, as it weighs 35.6 Kg. Consequently, the separate mounting plate needs to be fixed securely (I used expanding bolts), and on a flat surface, otherwise it will be deformed slightly, and enough to make it difficult to attach the fire itself. The fire comes with a UK 13A plug, so no problem with connecting it, unless you want to hide the cable, within the wall.Overall, we are very please with this electric fire, which not only looks good, but conveniently adds either 1Kw, or 2Kw of additional heat, during extreme cold periods. I had previously installed a Thermaskirt skirting radiator system, in the lounge, to remove the ugly standard double radiator. Although this new system provides an even background heat, throughout the room, it wasn't sufficient during the recent spell of low temperatures. You can also run the flame effect, for a cosy ambience, without switching on the acceptably quiet fan heater.Consequently, we can recommend this reasonably priced, electrical flame effect fire, to everyone.

Excelent company to deal with.
The fire exceded our expectations in looks and realistic flame effect. Unfortunatly, we had a couple of issues that were not acceptable with the fire we had. There was a problem with the range of remote control and the small motor that drives the flame effect was very noiseyI e-mailed the supplier and within 10 mins, had a phone call from Simon. He agreed that the fire was unaceptable and that a replacement would be supplied. ( They sell them, they don't make them, not their fault in my book)This was delivered promptly and the faulty unit taken away. You could not ask for better service and I would reccomend them without hesitation. We now have a superb fire and visitors have remarked on how realistic the log effect is. We are well pleased with it and the service we have had from the supplier.

Disappointed with Dimplex SP16
Really disappointed with my SP16. Bought from a local shop £795.00 - now available on line at less than half price! It's continually blown bulbs and now the flame effect motor has gone and the lights don't work Dimplex don't want to know - just pointing me at a local electrical engineer. Never ever buy Dimplex again or from a local shop. Lesson learned.

Great fire, easy to fit
Great fire, easy to fit, as the fire is so heavy the support wall bracket didn't look as if it would hold it, but don't be fooled it is strong enough. It is a great improvement to my sitting room as the logs looks really authentic, not noisy when heat is on. Very pleased and would recommend.

All round nice fire
Nice fire gives the room ambiance and a nice looking fire, easy to install but on the heavy side, not to loud when the fire is on, and completely silent in the fire effect mode.
