Meg Medina has written a thoughtful story about two friends who must part because one is moving away. Evelyn and Daniela play every day and the day Evelyn moves away is no different. We get to see how they spend their time together. We meet the diverse neighbors. We race through the apartment remembering all of the daily activities that makes their friendship so special.Sonia Sánchez illustrates the movements with vibrant colors and patterns to keep the eye engaged.Parents will be able to read this to their child and point out colors, animals, and fixtures.

This stunning book is a love letter about your first best friend and the lasting impact that friendship can have. With so many friends separated by Covid, it resonates and tugs at the heart in a deeper way these days. I teared up while reading this to my children, and my husband, who overhead the reading, came into the room to say how much he was enjoying the book. This one is a true gem.

Beautifully written and makes an immediate connection with readers young and older. Learning about imminent change and the way the characters deal with adjustment is something we all can relate to on some level. The author used inference and personification to relay her message hooking the reader and engaging their interest. Well crafted and heartfelt.

I bought this book and read it to my class, I got emotional. It's beautifully written and illustrated. It speaks to friendship and loss. Great story to read to our students, there is a lot of loss right now with distance learning and this book provides a good discussion around friendship and loss.
